Anyone got any tips for not rounding the heads on the front calliper bleed screws. I know I should soak in wd40 for ages but have foolishly changed the pads today and will need the car on Monday so ideally, I don't have the time to leave the spray to do its stuff. Any tips gratefully received.
Cheers, Nick

Use WD40 and a wire brush to clean them up. Then use a 6pt deep socket.
If this fails, then use a pair of mole grips, and then replace the bleed nipple afterwards with a new one.

You shouldnt need to bleed the brakes to do the pads matey..just undo the reservoir cap then push the piston back. i always use my blow torch if im uncertain about them...heat the area up around the nipple so it expands, it loosens even the most stubbern one then and avoids rounding it

That's what I thought mate but the pedal is really soft now. I fitted the inner pad, pushed the piston back with a c-clamp , fitted the outer and did the bolts back up but now it ain't right.makman wrote:You shouldnt need to bleed the brakes to do the pads matey..just undo the reservoir cap then push the piston back. i always use my blow torch if im uncertain about them...heat the area up around the nipple so it expands, it loosens even the most stubbern one then and avoids rounding it

The bleed screws are stupid money from BMW - about £5 each IIRC
If it wont budge get some heat on it - do not try and force it with molegrips or simlar or you'll just snap it off and end up having to get another caliper. I speak from experience.

If you do snap off a nipple (oo er) then a torx bit hammered into the remnant is a good way to get the rest out.

Not yet mate. It was supposed to be a stop gap commuter so just tlc, servicing, some cross wires and a leather interior.
Trouble is, the paint is good and its got a moonroof.
Somebody could make it nice. I don't have the skills unfortunately.
