Anyone into the Morris Eight?

There is a possibility I might be buying myself one. Been sitting for some time, engine had been removed and rebuilt to a hi performance spec of some description from what i'm told.
Needs a fair bit of welding to the floor too but that won't be an issue.

Just looking to see if anyone knows anything about them and can tell me anything I might need to know.

The engine needs refitting too, was removed, rebuilt, then been in storage since then. Been layed up for a fair few years too from what I gather. 7-10 years or so

Depends what year it is. Post war was the 8 Series E with pressed steel wheels. All have a separate chassis - the Minor was the first monocoque. The motor is the 918cc sidevalve. Not overly desirable.

It wasn't mine honest!!!! It was his!!

We went through a faze of doing cars that we'd had in the family and travelled in as kids.

Dads first car was an Eight (but a tourer no less)
Mums forst car was a Herald (hence my 12/50)
We did a Lotus Elan plus two but then never got finished due to the crash recession when he went broke)
We also did a BGT for his brother in law.

Do they have problems with Donuts in the carpark?

Those are made of chamois leather, so that the bufties can dry any moisture droplets/bodily fluids off the item being meticulously scrutinised.

I just had a hand in the suspension work and the interior.

The car was restored bodily and painted by KD Autos in Broadbridge Heath, who after the classic car boom crashed, got heavily into RS Ford resto work. I don't think they are in business anymore.

We then took the car on for my brother and while they had made a fantastic job of the body, the suspension and running gear needed work.

It was like a big mechanno kit. Everything was available to a point but it's so simple, what we couldn't get over the counter we machined up ourselves especially any bushes which we did in Bronze. Threads were BSW Whitworth but all thats available via pl;aces like Namricks in Hove. Autojumbles are your friends (or were in 1988 when t'internet were not available).
