Hi folks,

My car is an '87 325i

I went to change my air filter today and it seemed that ECP had sent the wrong one. Looking on realOEM though, there are two different boxes that could have been on my car.

I'm now wondering if I have the wrong airbox. The one I have has the smaller filter and I noticed it touches the alternator.

Can either box be fitted with the Bosch AFM?

How do I know which box I should have?

Thanks

this is what id expect to be fitted to your car

the really old prefacelift cars with the jet tronic had a metal airbox but i doubt you have that

That's what I have. So eurocarparts have sent the wrong part perhaps. Was the metal box the other one on real OEM that would have taken a bigger filter?

posible but i dont think so the other one youve seen on real oem is probably only fitted in areas with alot of dirt getting into the filter not required in the uk

Ok, just googled the number on the filter box and it seems it is for an E21. Eurocarparts have it listed incorrectly. Annoying as it was their 'recommended' item!
