I noticed that I'd been loosing some clutch fluid over the past few weeks and now today I found from where, as theres a small patch in the drivers footwell.
Looking at replacements I have noticed they vary quite a bit in price is there any way of identifying which ones will be suitable for my car being a pre facelift.
Heres a pic of the original

All the same, pre and post facelift.
If it's an M20 engined E30 you have, I'd be happy with these: http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/hydraulic-clutches
Pagid aren't an OE supplier for BMW hydraulics, but they are a large reputable company, who supply BMW with brake pads.
Note that there's currently a further discount of £5 on orders between £50 and £75. £10 off if you bump the order up to £75.

If swapping the master cylinder doesn't cure it (most likely will), just to let you know, I had a leaky plastic piece (joining the hose from the resevoir to the top of the master cylinder), that was difficult to discover!...just something to be aware of...to be fair I haven't checked realoem...mines a 4pot m40, so yours might be different, but possibly not!

Edit: Due to misleading/inacurate reference of plastic part.

Same parts on M40 engined E30s as well. Hose from reservoir can leak (rarely), but it should be braided rubber, not plastic.

Ahh Cool,

Sorry, I was refering to part 7 on here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=21&fg=10

Mine had a hairline crack in it...I replaced the 3year old cylinder to no avail! So I pulled the resevoir system and found that leak!...I had taken the cylinder back as I assumed it was faulty!

Am i right in remembering its best to replace both slave and master at the same time ? Not just to eradicate problems but to prevent damage to old unit by a the other being new ? .

I've heard the same and experienced it too!
