I have just got a nice little convertible

My mechanic took down the roof in the cold the other day and now it has a lovely split in it

Fucking gutted !!!

Can anyone advise whats the best way to put this right without buying a new roof ??

I have some of this liquid stuff you put in it....on the way...and is supposed to fix it like magic.... but im not so sure

The window is the sewn in type and my trimmer says it's 2 days work

Thanks

About right.

Roof cover needs to come off to do a proper job.
Ask your trimmer to check the tension straps whilst it's all in bits.

You can do this job yourself. I bought the kit from emiata.com in the states. I would agree it's a two day job for a trimmer, took a mate and I about 20 hours to do it.

The only thing that the guide doesn't tell you is to make sure you cut the plastic sheet into the window shape when in an environment which is cold as the plastic expands with heat and you are working with very little tolerance on the size.

Having done this myself Malc, the roof is better on the car unless you have the BMW frame to put it on if it's off the car. The roof needs to be as taught as possible and that's best achieved on the car.

Makes the job harder but the frame is a very hard thing to get your hands on.
