Ok I did a search but not found what i needed.
To cut the long story short
I purchased a new door lock barrel rebuild kit for the m3 and rebuilt the barrel with no problems as the old barrel had the bearing worn into the barrel shaft fault.
Anyway i replaced the barrel in the door and the door lock still seems to be tight. The soldernoid seems free enough and the catch etc. Also on lock/unlock the door pin goes up and down about 5mm but the passenger side has a lot more travel. I would like my drivers door pin to travel this way, I tried adjusting the soldernoid up and down on its 2 mounting screws.
What would be my next step on finding the fault, Im guessing all the door gubbins need to come out and have a good dose in lube?
Anyone had similair problems or can point me please?
Oh forgot to mention all of this is done by key and not central locking as the battery is out of the car (restoration work)
Cheers
Leigh

Your next step should be to remove the latch mech from the door jamb.
Clean it and lubricate with the sort of oil you use on your kid's bikes.
Work the mech by hand until it is light and smooth in operation,re-oil and re-fit.
