Ahh, you mean back to front....
No, its impossible to fit them back to front, the studs wont allow it, but it is possible to fit them the wrong way ie exhaust carrier on the inlet side, and inlet carrier on the exhaust side, which is what im on about

Lobes are oiled from the lifters which take the feed from the same place as the bearings, would be worth rigging up an oil pressure gauge matecraigieeb wrote:

Injectors maxed out or just about.
Ignition is safe for the boost.

Ignition is safe for the boost.

Great result, nice work Craig

1.3bar boost at just about 1bar it was making 400hp-ish I think.ross2009 wrote:what boost is that running gunni?

What an awesome end to a conversion,
Cheers dude, without the mapping, Vems or the turbo I wouldnt have this mental weapon I do now
oh yeah, sorry about that AMG merc thing on the test drive, I just had to get him
I'v got pictures and vids for you deviants,
ready for the off

its a bit out of sync but keep watching...
Fook me!! what a car, its just awesome.
the day started out at 6 in the morning, me outside the back of mine, trying to get the family wagon and the massive trailer with the bm on out of the back lane, and it was only bloody bin day, so had to move a load of them out the way,
then we just set off, it took us about 5 hours or so to get down to see Gunni
as soon as we got there, gunni was straight on the case, the car was having trouble staying on idle, so he plugged his laptop in, and hey presto, the car was on idle
he then plugged in his knock sensor thingymabob and wanted to go on a little gentle drive so he could basically see what was what
when we were on a little drive, this daft *** in a, erm cant remember what merc it was, but it was some sort of AMG thing, came howling up the inside lane, so i looked at gunni, and said sorry for what i was about to do,
so this merc pulled into the outside lane, I thought id give him a bit room,
gave him say about.. 6-7 car lengths,
waited for the car infront of him to pull in,
and as soon as it did, he floored it
so I obliged.. went from 5th to 3rd and just lit it,
and was right on him by the time I was in 4th which just instantly put a smile on my face,
so then it was time to get it off the road and on the rollers to see what it could actually do,
power run after power run after power run,
Gunni is scratching his head wondering why the figures were so low, well i say low, i'm talking in the 300's lol
he traced it back to one of the injectors dropping off,
which actually turned out to be one of the connections on no.2
after that was sorted, the figures just kept getting better and better, till they were at about 350-370, but he still wasnt happy with that
and said, it should still be pulling more than that ( music to my ears )
he found that a spark was dropping off when it was on boost
that was traced back to a coil pack breaking down, good job i took an extra 6 with me
once they were swapped over,
the bhp just kept going up and up
and yeah the end result speaks for it's self
I really thought i was going to be coming home with only 300 odd bhp
but to come away with that result, is just awesome,
cant believe what I have created
oh yeah the only reason it's not hitting the 500bhp,
is dude to the injectors holding me back
but im well happy with it.....................
For the moment
M50 Turbo!!!
I shall say no more
So have you driven it yet?

I might of had a quick cheeky one, when it came off the trailer yesterday,
It would of been rude not to, seeing as it was sunny and dry.
And wow.
Doesn't it put the power down well.
It just pins you to the seat, and buggers off like a rocket!

oil pump nut came loose, apparently this needs to be tack welded or secured/modified in a superior way to factory settings .kris25 wrote:What was the issue with the cam scoring in the end? looks like it;; be good fun
there is very little info/pre-warning on here about this which is a bit shoite to say the least .

Ive stripped more engines with this oil pump sprocket arrangement than I can remember and ive never found one loose, could it be somebody has been in there before? Or maybe just really bad luck? I just locktite the threads when fitting, welding is a bit extreme IMOmagpie wrote:oil pump nut came loose, apparently this needs to be tack welded or secured/modified in a superior way to factory settings .kris25 wrote:What was the issue with the cam scoring in the end? looks like it;; be good fun

Just read all that and I think you have convinced me to go m50 rather than build this m20 I have already bought to turbo .need some vids of it driving ,the snow is no excuse either .if you don't mind me asking how much was the mapping etc that's the only bit I won't be able to do and it sounded like a right chew on .

Well now the snow has gone, sunnysr wrote:Just read all that and I think you have convinced me to go m50 rather than build this m20 I have already bought to turbo .need some vids of it driving ,the snow is no excuse either .if you don't mind me asking how much was the mapping etc that's the only bit I won't be able to do and it sounded like a right chew on .
and the new rear end is on, along with the coilovers I'll be able to get it out, and get some little vids of it going under boooooost
To show you what it's really like,
Its utterly pointless driving this thing in the snow/wet, with that much power and all them torques, it's a bit redundant
Mapping wise, you'll have to speak to Gunni, you will not be disappointed if you go to him mate
LOLLsamc wrote:apparently craig had to resort to driving a 5 cylinder fence remover over the snowy period and is considering a set of 3 spokes for the e30 as there cool as feck
That fence was asking for it! it looked hungry, and the quattro gladly fed it's appetite.
If I ever put 3 spokes on any of my cars
Just shoot me, these dont even have place on a Saab let alone an Audi Mr
