Purchased a touring yesterday

Has central locking.

Locked it last night

Tried to unlock it this morning and the driver door barrel wouldnt budge.

Unlocked it from the passenger side, the drivers door still wouldnt budge, openned the window and jiggled the handle while turning the key and it came open.

Took the door card off to inspect but couldnt see anything

Closed it and it wouldnt open again, manage to stick a screwdriver into the door from inside and pop it open that way.

Tried a new mech as thats what seemed to be catching, that didnt work.

I then changed the barrel because it wasnt turning, new barrel doesnt turn when fitted.

Removed everything from another door and rebuilt it all into the touring door. Now it wont catch and shut so just swings open and shut without touching the handle

Any ideas on to whats happening?

You changed the actuator? happened on my current car and sorted it
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Yep, changed the actuator, micro switch, door handle mech, door catch mech and barrel so everything is off a car I tested before removing.

Haven't tried the relay though, would that cause this issue?

Can't do anything now due to the weather

Was the replacement latch working freely?

Is the lock barrel arm located correctly in the fork on the latch?

Is the plate with the mico switch on mounted properly against the door skin and the C clip properly home?

Latch was working well

I need to check the other bits though. I'm gonna try your method though Malcolm and cut some of the inner door off just to make it easier toget to... My hands are bloody killing and covered in little cuts

Sorted it! :D Malc, it wasnt in the fork section :o: School boy error. I did angle grind some of it away though so I could see this. Central locking works now on a seperate key due to the new barrel, key fob is also working again

I did knock the window off its runner though earlier and now that needs adjusting but atleast it locks again. Thanks Malc

That was the clue;

Either the latch was jammed in the 'open' position or the lock barrel arm was stopping it moving.

Well done!
