HI guys
I have trawled the search results as well as the WIKI , but cannot seem to find a cure.
I need to remove my ignition lock from my E30 , the problem being while the WIKI and search forums all show how to do it.
My issue is that my ignition lock does not have the little hole to insert the nail/dart/bobby pin/etc into.
I managed to get the black covering off the actual lock but cannot fathom how to get the barrel out.
Any advice.

There's some kind of tab to push on the side of the barrel.

mmm, will have to look at it again, there is a small pin hole but pushing it does nothing .
Can I fit a newer lock set if I have this housing ??

You need to insert the key and move it to position 1 or 2 (cant remember) - the one where the steering lock is disengaged.
You will then be able to press in the pin hole and remove it.
