Hello all, I am new to e30zone. I have a question please...............
I have a bmw e34 525i 1995 and would like to know if a bmw e34 m5 speedo would fit my car? as i have seen one for sale.

It will fit and plug in, but there is an oil temp gauge in place of the economy gauge.

Im sure the mileage will not read the same as your old one and will need to be corrected.

Yup, the mileage is stored in the coding plug. Now, this can be swapped from cluster to cluster but only if the backing plates are the same colour. Early ones unbtil Feb '89 are light gray, later ones were white and from September 1990 (H reg onwards) they were replaced again with a light blue backed unit. Whilst you can swap clusters from car to car, the coding plugs in white and blue backed units cannot be swapped because they are a different shape. So if the M5 cluster has the same colour back as yours you can break off the plastic cage with a screwdriver and swap the coding plug. Early grey back units don't have a coding plug.
