There is a chance of injury and don't use it where there are little ones. If they are clean and polished they go faster

Remove washer lines and hinges/gas struts too, to avoid injury.

Is there any performance gains by using different manufacturer's products?
I would expect a BMW bonnet to be faster than a Fiat bonnet, for example.

Youth is wasted on the young.
Depends on the shape of them I bet. With a curled up front it should work quite well. Try it with a modern BMW bonnet and it'll probably nosedive and throw you off.

Rollers are worthwhile keeping, gives you something to hold on to when you are going backwards down a hill at breakneck speed.

LOL, bet you look a right coont turning up to your local park with an E30 bonnet in tow!
Sledges are only about £8 from B&M bargains (or equivalent)
Got any pics/videos of this (or it didn't happen obviously)

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Haven't deployed mine as yet, too busy with kids at my local hills and it isn't the most portable of items so going further afield isn't on the cards.

I'd have a go on my spare bonnet (and film it) but I have no snow.

Only issue with using a bonnet is that if you manage to fall of the front of it there is a large chance of death when it catches you up and smacks you in the back of the head!

About 7 years ago in austria I picked up these big plastic discs with handles for sledging. Much better than normal sledges, especially on the black ski runs. Unfortunately, I broke mine in 2010 and my fibreglass fix didn't last very long. They're great fun though, you end up spinning in all sorts of directions and it's hard to fall off them unless they dig in.
I've found the bags soil etc come in to be good when the snows a bit harder and icier.
Just remember to check whats at the bottom of the hill before you go flying down it, especially on something like a car bonnet which will be hard to stop and hard to bail out of. Remember that girl that decapitated herself on the barbed wire fence a few years ago?

Fastest thing I've used is that thin corrugated plastic, plastic feed bags packed with snow are also good!
the fastest home made sledge ever is an old skool gasboard that they used on the roadworks to prevent people falling in the holes they had dug. you had to jam one end in some fence railings and bend one end so it curled upwards to clear any obstacles in your way .As they had a raised lip on the outer edges of the flat sides they acted like runners and would destroy any Woolworth's bought ones the posh kids had on the slopes!
anyone else remember these ?

I guess that most winter's loads of Consett citizens fell down the holes that you and your mates un-covered!magpie wrote:the fastest home made sledge ever is an old skool gasboard that they used on the roadworks to prevent people falling in the holes they had dug. you had to jam one end in some fence railings and bend one end so it curled upwards to clear any obstacles in your way .As they had a raised lip on the outer edges of the flat sides they acted like runners and would destroy any Woolworth's bought ones the posh kids had on the slopes!
