Dear Experts
I have a pair of genuine Recaro seats in Big Red

They have a wheel to adjust recline angle on both sides- thing is they seem to be loose and often recline themselves back with no input from me!

I have tried tightening various screws to no avail

Is this something anyone has come across before?

Both seats now do this- I have been swapping them over over the years.
Advice gratefully received!

If they have a wheel to recline them they wont be original BMW ones as to recline the BMW ones they have a lever.

With yours, there is obviously something slipping in the mechanism, possible worn teeth. Would need stripping to investigate.

Sorry i think you miss understood.

BMW offered a set of recaro LS's as a factory option for the E30 as well as the sport seats. The recaros for E30's are commonly known on here as "highbacks".

The E30 Recaro LS's have levers where as the generic Recaro LS's have a wheel.

They aren't BMW ones :(
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

No as I said they are gen Recaro leather recliners not OE BMW stuff (which are arguably not so good?)

btw love your sign off Duke 137 reminds me of:
peter where paul had "had" had "had had" "had had" had had the master's approval- you can drop the ""

Your Recaro's are Recaro LS's which were available to buy on their own from recaro and were also standard equipment on many cars.

The were offered as an option from factory on the BMW E30 and are basically the same seat (so every bit as good!) with only minor detail differences to the mechanisms.

can I convert the recline mechanism to a lever system not a wheel BAC?

(PS I remain pretty slim at 6' 3" and 12 stone)!

Have found these guys- but their seat mechanism repair kit works for the tilt mechanism not the recline!
