Im struggling to find a perfect sized tank for my car, this one is slightly too big but I can make the wheel well bigger at the back to accommodate it, 680x300 = 94 litres, does that seem right? Cant help but think they have the capacity wrong

The perfect tank would be 650x300 and 'full toroidal' type, ive found this but waiting for them to reply to my email as the site isnt very easy to get round - http://www.stener.com.pl/product.php?id ... &id_lang=1

Im sure I read that MrMooooore says the best size one is just slightly higher than the boot floor.

90 litres for a 680 x 300 toroidal with the valve in the centre sounds about right. Don't forget that 90 litres is actual capacity, so it's intended to hold 72 litres (80%), although this can be safely be increased to the mid or higher 80s per cent (say 78 litres), unless you intend to regularly fill the car to its maximum and then immediately park in the midsummer midday sun.
The maximum diameter tank that will fit into an unmodified E30 wheel well is 630mm, with a height of around 220mm before it starts to intrude upwards into the boot. Obviously, you can go higher with mods to the interior boot floor.
Full toroidal tanks give a few extra litres of capacity, which is always good, but you need to cut a hole in the side of the wheel well for the valve boss, which needs to be well sealed to keep water out, and the valve assembly is exposed to the elements. Don't need to provide venting arrangements to the outside though.
