Ive had this problem for a while .

Image

Wipers go all the way to the bottom of the screen and come up and stop ! , i used to be able to tap the stalk down a little a a time and get them to sit at the bottom of the screen ,
Is the motor buggered or is there a solution.

Thanks James

I've got this issue too, think I've been told the motors need a refurb and there is a how to guide on the Wiki pages. Will be watching this thread for the answer.

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... per_faults

That wiki entry explains how to refurbish the wiper motor.

If the position they come to rest is consistent, then all that's wrong is that the arm on the motor output shaft is sitting on the wrong spline.
Remove the LH grill on the scuttle (slide it down, then lift out at the top, NOT prise it out at the bottom), remove the nut on the shaft, wriggle the arm free, then refit it on the correct spline and refit the nut.

That is where they stop ,but the wipers do swoop to the bottom of screen then come back up and stop .
So if i were to do that the wiper would scrape down the scuttle .
Thanks

No, they would behave as they should. Push the wipers down to the bottom of the screen by hand when the arm is off (very slightly lower that where you want them, to allow for lash in the linkage), and push it back on the motor shaft.
The wipers would only go down and scrape on the scuttle if you tried repositioning the wipers themselves on their splined shafts.

He means reposition it at the motor not at the individual arms.
