I came to open the drivers door on my 325 Cab this morning and found that the lock was stuck.

The door was deadlocked but I could move the lock to the 12 o clock postition but it would not go to the 1 o clock position to unlock the door.

The passenger door would unlock and open (phew!)

The boot is stuck locked. I can move the key from horizontal to vertical (anti clockwise) but it wont make the final movement to unlock the boot (clockwise) (much like the drivers door).

I managed to sort the drivers door by removing the door card from the inside and removing the door locking motor. This was stuck. I managed to free it up with a few knocks.

My problem is now the boot.

I have done a number of searches about checking the power to the central locking control unit. It has full 12v so dont think the red/black wire mod will make a difference. I have also found a post where brianmoore said to connect the red/black wire to the blue and then to ground the white wire to the brown and vice versa to try to get the system to lock / unlock without the control unit.

Nothing is working all I am getting is the clicking of the relay that lives next to the control unit.

Does any one have any other suggestions before I destroy the lock? I have a spare full lock set so I can replace it afterwards.

Just wanted to know if there was anything else before I get physical with it.

Thanks

as far as i know the boot does not actually dead lock if you have a key, and your problem is you cannot knock out the ski hatch to gain access from the rear seats as you have a cab with its extra fire wall.

if i were you before i begin drilling i would spray loads of WD40 into the lock, and excercise the mechinism by key in/ key out, turning, wiggling etc etc as the main key should just unlock it, but there is no easy way to get inot the boot of a cab without damaging something

Have you ever opened the boot with the key you are trying? One of the supplied keys is a valet key, and won't operate the boot or glovebox.
Does the fuel filler flap open?
The boot lock does have deadlock, but it should be able to be over-ridden by a key.
The problem with the driver's door is worrying, since E30 lock motors don't get 'stuck', they get cooked by a faulty locking ECU, usually as a result of water ingress. Have a look inside the ECU and see if there are signs of corrosion.
If the boot lock motor has been seriously cooked to the extent that the key can't override it, then you do have a problem with a cab.
Alternatives to destroying the lock are to destroy one of the rear light clusters, or I'd be tempted to remove the number plate, etc, and cut an access hole behind it. There's a three inch wide vertical reinforcement in the middle, so keep just to one side.
The boot hinge fixings are accessible under the horseshoe, but I doubt if undoing them would help.

Thank very much for the help guys

I'm in :D

The boot lock would turn easily with the key but not far enough to unlock. Having gone through the options and having a spare lock I decided to have one last go with the key and forced it all the way around and the with a few shoves it poped. I was worried about breaking the key before so this time used the spare.

The lock motor was seized like the drivers side one. When I removed the ECU there was a lot of mositure behind the speaker which could have caused this. The ECU itself does not look like any had got inside.

Any way lock motors removed and the locks are all manual for the time being.

Thanks again for your input.
