Went to get stuff out of boot to find it full of water, litres of water! Yesterday I scooped it all out, cleaned it and left the carpet etc out, today I checked it and its filling up again, more so on passenger side.
It can't be holes in floor cause it's holding the water.
I've tried pouring water in the seals and doesn't look like its coming through, apart from on drivers side I noticed a little drip next to window seal.
Is there a common problem with bonded seals leaking over time?
Has anybody had or indeed solved this issue?
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Check the rear light gaskets, I replaced mine last week, the old ones fell apart in my hands, the holes was blocked, in the wells which let the water out, unblocked them with a bradel. The water drained out.

If you have a sunroof check the sunroof drain tubes aren't adrift. They should be attached to the plastic drain section in the cubby holes. As TPS says - there are also drain holes in the bottom so the water should drain away itself, so they need to be unblocked.

The gromets that the C pillar trim clips into can become brittle and leak.

well, i must say, i took one of the rear painted trims off at back of quarter window, i noticed that one of the pop on gromit thingmies had split in half and one half had folded over, mustve been removed and forced back on in the past.
do you think i should just replace them too?

Suounds like part if not all of your problem then as they will let water in if split.Loon676 wrote:well, i must say, i took one of the rear painted trims off at back of quarter window, i noticed that one of the pop on gromit thingmies had split in half and one half had folded over, mustve been removed and forced back on in the past.

As mentioned above still worth checking/replacing the light seals and clearing the drain holes.

This is the most common non rust related cause of water in the rear of tourings in my experience. I have never found a rear light gasket that was letting in water, other than where the nuts were loose or the corner of the car had been damaged at some time.eko wrote:Suounds like part if not all of your problem then as they will let water in if split.Loon676 wrote:well, i must say, i took one of the rear painted trims off at back of quarter window, i noticed that one of the pop on gromit thingmies had split in half and one half had folded over, mustve been removed and forced back on in the past.

These grommets are single use, and should always be replaced if the trim is removed.

Thanks Brian, I take it you've come across this before?
Are they easy enough to swap? As in, am I likely to break something brittle, or swear alot?

Where are the drain holes? Mine are probably submerged. Can you see them from the outside?

+1 does anyone have a pic of the drain holes? Just so I know exactly where they are before I start.
Thanks.

Yes you can see the drain holes if you lie on the floor. Don't know how best to describe them other than that they look like a single little metal nostril

Drain holes are there, but are only intended to be drains for paint after the first immersion coat at the factory. They should be totally hidden by seam sealer on the finished car.
They are formed by a crease/fold in one panel, where two panels join near the front of the well.
