True but you wouldn't expect somebody to be fishing for as many E9 CSL V5s as they could find, tarting up standard coupes and passing them off as the real thing, now would you? Which seems to be what's being said about our other chum above. Either way, both sorts of practice are just wrong and ruin our hobby let alone being stinking business practice.

I can't believe how much the Sport Evos are worth these days. I guess its basic economics with supply and demand and some additional gubbings thrown in which really drove up the price.

tbh I would rather spend 65k on a 964 RS club sport with cage in Ruby red if I am honest even though I love my BMs. the 964 RS is going for mental money as well as I have a mate who bought one around 10 years ago for 21k....its now worth north of 80k as a very rare one.

the 993 was gibber than the 964 and the purists prefer the 964 RS and not the

given the e36 m3 was produced in far more numbers and a lot heavier, less pointy then it made the std e30 m3 special let alone the sport evo. its mad that the e36 M3 GT and GT2 versions you can pick up for a song depsite being a cracking car.

as an e30 m3 owner myself then I am hoping they will all go up loads but who knows. before owning one I did not see what all the fuss was about apart from being like a normal e30 with some bolt on bits. i had a 320 iS track car with an e36 3 litre engine in and it was not until I started researching the e30 m3 did I realise they are so different to even the 320 is. hence the motorsport heritage in many respects.

I did not know the evo 2 has lighter glass in the rear areas for example.

there is a lot of money abroad these days where economies are strong and people have a lot more disposable income than we do and pay a lot less tax! notably in the far east where investor money is coming in from. I have heard that a lot of the e30 M3s are going back to Germany too so are fetching strong money.

I did see a red evo e30 m3 down near the Kent coast at the summer which looked like it had just been abandoned so if its still there when I go down again I am going to try and get it to restore.

Car values are strange. Why is the oddly proportioned DB5 worth more that the shorter, prettier DB4? For value, a bog standard 215bhp M3 is practically as good as the Sport Evo and I only bought mine because it was the same money as an equally mint standard car. A £5000 E36 Evo will eat either for breakfast.

On a positive note, the seam sealer should have hardened nicely by that stage :)

Just use a smaller pic, I'm sure there are 'guidelines' in the section where you select one as to the recommended sizes. There must be literally tens of E46 M3 pictures on google ;)

Copy the picture to any imaging or hosting programme and reduce the size before saving and re-hosting

I thought this was E30 Zone, now it's looking more like Facebook (pics of any s**t you want)

Old Colonel had an absolute mint E30 M3 in red with black leather (magazine featured and maybe a trophy but can't remember) for £12.5k c.2 years ago. I asked him about it quite recently and he, as a BMW dealer said if he had any inclination they would start getting into the next bracket of pricing he'd have held on to it. So those who are feeling annoyed they sold theirs back in the day, dont worry, not even a reputable and experienced BMW dealer saw it happening.

Given the prices some are going for, this seems half decent? By no way a minter but a decent one. I haven't seen it but cant gauge by pictures and a write up if its one thats been loved or one that has had lots of money thrown at it to make up for neglect in earlier life..

You're right it's almost completely academic without an inspection, but if that checks out as described I don't think it's a crazy price, especially if they'll deal:

215bhp, smart colour, unmessed-with. There's a few minor points that could be improved on - rusty wiper arms, clips, yellowed coolant expansion tank, replace hideous stereo and speakers etc

The Evo market is all over the place

how are they just going to go in the future, just up and up and up ?

i always dreamed of having an m3 one day since, but 20k`s :( im not sure id have the balls to that that for acar of that age that can have so many hidden issues and a big risk to buy, who was the fella on here who got burnt 13k for one and ended up needing a load of work and new panels and stuff ? , crazy

They're always going to do quite well but are sensitive to the strength of the pound/euro, and the economy in general as they're a completely discretionary purchase now. But they're good fun, reliable, mechanically pretty straightforward, have unbeatable race heritage and look f*in awesome! Plus lots of the people that saw and fell in love with them as kids and teenagers now have a bit of wedge behind them. Right here right now though I think the market has overheated, and has slowed up hugely as a consequence.

I hope they do go up winkeye

Like others I remember these selling for a few grand many years ago, I missed out cos I had my sport and doing my house up so the 4/5k was tied up in kitchens etc but I managed to pick one up 3 years ago.

I was/am thinking about selling it but I'm undecided, until I do make my mind up it will sit cosseted in my garage for ever more.

There are so few nice ones left that prices will keep rising. Too many are rusty bodged up old shitheaps (i.e a typical old E30) so there aren't enough nice ones to feed the market.
