Hi, just drove my 318is for the first time in six months, long term project having to be bought forward for poss closure/rapid job change! Anyway, started car revs went to 2000 then calmed down to 1500 (cold start choke type style ?) slowing down at junctions or coasting the revs rose to as high as 3500 revs without my foot on the gas pedal! Didn't do this last time I used the car either starting on drive or when driven for any length of time,

remove the idle control valve and spray it with wd40 inside or brake cleaner as it might of stuck, also check the main inlet air trunk for splits. You need to remove it fully to inspect the underside which most people don't do .

i'm braking a fully running 318is that ticks over perfectly if you should need any parts to solve your issues ,cheers Mick.

It might be the vacuum hoses under the inlet manifold I had to change all mine do to idle problems. Also a good time to do the throttle body heater delete. Simple job really

Worth checking the butterflies in the TB are both fully closed when you lift off.
