hi all, i've got an m42 block to paint, and I'm wondering how i can do it without what usually happens to me when i paint engines - i.e. a few thousand miles down the road it peals off to be left with the usual rusty iron. i always use proper engine enamel and have prepped the block by wire brush, gunk + pressure wash then acid/kurust. but nothing ever seems to work. what am i doing wrong? tempted to hammerite it i must admit.
cheers

if it helps,in the past ive used Tractor paint from a local farm supplier/store called Mole Valley Farmers.
Gives a really good finish, even if your a bit rough with it like i was, comes in loads of different colours, green, yellow, blue, red etc and lasts pretty well too.
Half litre tin was about Ԛ£4 + VAT and lasts for ages!

lol i've heard of mole valley farmers... my granny's in devon. maybe i'll give some of that a crack!
i'm thinking of really working on the prep this time, getting a real nice surface and giving it a once over in etch primer, even though the engine enamel i've used in the past says to use it straight onto the block.
