Im gona want a hard top after xmas for me cab. I really want a colour coded one and obviously theres the weismann tops that will fit the bill. Does anyone know roughly how much a body shop would charge to get one to the same colour as my car (royal blue metalic) or if there's one for sale in this colour that ive missed.

i do however much prefer the look of the original more square hardtops. Ive only seen these for sale as a vinyl covered top but id like one like andys (in member's e30's). Does anyone know once again how to do this or howmuch it would cost. Obviously has anyone got one already done for sale?

cheers peeps.

IMO i would steer away from weismann ones, purely cos they dont look as good as originals. you can get the original hardtops colour coded by stripping the vinyl o0ff it. any good bodyshop should be able to do it.

I have been looking at ebay.de for a hardtop. Haven't found one north of Hannover yet ...be careful tho ... they tend not to show actual pictures of the roof for sale. There are a couple of pictures they tend to use over and over- either that or I have seen the same roof from 3 different locations.
I will have to find out if there is a sneaky way of winning these auctions ... last time I bid for one I was beaten with 3 seconds remaining by 5 euro.

Hi

If you like vinyl then the you can still choose from either..as Wiesmann do them with vinyl trim...know someone with Wiesmann with vinyl and leather interior trim..all a matter of what you want.

Easier to paint Wiesmann as already has good gelcoat and easily prepped...the original has a rough finish under vinyl.

What ever you do be careful regarding the seals..original are mega money, Wiesmann ones are available but need to be fitted by experienced technician.

Hardtops are available in UK new and used..so have to weigh up the cost of your travel and painting etc in your budget...what prices were you hoping to pay

Ԛ£320 for a hardtop is nothing, you could easily sell it for that when you've finished with it. Good excuse for a trip to Germany as well :)

OT: Steviec, did you get my PM by any chance?

If you add up the cost of getting there etc and if yu want a trip to Germany then the time is not an issue either

Also a friend is now orgainising trips to the Nuburgring instruction in English and with rhd E30s to drive round the track...then dont need to use the cab

Can supply details if interested

They normally do it as flights out there, with laps of the ring, and trip to the grand prix circuit

Other option is to pay to have it collected by van for you, I know of several people who go out on business with vans occasionally

Hope that helps
