I believe you can bolt a complete E92 M3 back end into a 1 series.

You could use the LSD interenals for another BMW LSD into the 1 series diff casing as long as they are the same size diff, 168 small case, 188 medium case or 210 large case are the three sizes but other than the 1M, all the rest of the 1's will be either 168 or 188.

What are the differences between a 1 series std. Rear end and a 3 series std. Rear end? E87 and e90.

Also, is it just the diff and the arms which are different between the M models?

None and none at the front either.

Diff, all arms, rear subframe, brakes etc.

A mod is to fit E9x M3 front wishbones to give more negative camber.

What's the actual difference between the subframe then. Do the standard models use an offset diff and shorter arms. Are the m models the opposite as in centred diff, and longer arms?
