I think the time may have come. After 11 years of e30 ownership, admittedly a lot of these with the car SORN for 6 months of the year at a time in the garage! I think it is time for it to go as more recent years have seen very little use even when tax and tested. I just can't justify the ownership any more.
The dilemma I have is the car would sell very easily. It is low mileage (well <120k) completely original manual 325i SE on a 1990 'H' in Calypso red. It is a more door, but in my opinion that makes it a fun practical old school family runner! It's also well specked (normal SE equipment plus 15" BBS, black leather, map light mirror, rear blind, cruise control, subtle body kit etc). Most of the e30 weak points are yet to surface. Spent well over £1k on a recent pre mot spending spree. This included brake lines, sub frame bean can bushes, 4 tyres, and exhaust (back section genuine BM.)
However, I also have a significant arsenal of spares - enough that I have lost track of exactly what I have! Lets just say I had a fair few to start with, then broke a 320i touring as well to add to the collection. I now have 2 sheds of spares.
The spares alone must we worth a fair bit, but once I sell the car it is going to be like parting with a first born. So to say the least, I'm not looking forward to doing so. I'm not a great one for the hassle of selling stuff on eBay, as I can't be arsed with the P&P hassle etc.
So would you sell the car and then the spares separately, or sell as the car and spares as a job lot?

Interesting point chaps! I was erring as a job lot, but I see your point.
Pete, looks like we joined the zone about he same time, but you've been a little more active than me! Was it 2005 that the server had to be rebuilt and we all re-registerd?

There are a lot of tw4ts/ w4nkers/ tools around and they need to be kept in place. It is a thankless task but somebody has to do it
PS Have you got any decent standard headlights ? looks like Jimbo could do with a set, yesterday !

Jim, are those lights angle eyes? They have a certian look to them! If you want to go back to OEM of have at least two pairs
On a serious note I got to say I think the e30 lights out perfom the ones on my e39. Often thought of doing a Xenon retro fit to the e39 as at tiem they are unsafe!

For any one interested keep an eye out in the for sale section. I'll get her tax & tested first so may be a few weeks, plus I need to work out what to do with the spares.
I'm having real difficulty valuing it at the moment, been trying to find a comparison in the for sale section.

Classic car world is an odd place at times. That's a lovely looking car,but it has the wrong door count to make what it is properly worth.....the market place tells us that two door saloons are more desirable, therefore they will return more money.
If I were in your position,I would not be in a hurry to sell, but would advertise the car at my desired price and be prepared for a string of tyre-kickers who will try to talk you down....took me two years to sell my Daimler, but I eventually settled for four fiths of my asking price.

Thanks Daimlerman, I admit I'm in no hurry to part. Over the least 7 years I have used an e46 followed by two e39s as my daily drives. All this Time the e30 just been a bit of summer time fun. As I'm sure many on here agree, when well looked after an e30 provides real head turning 'retro' enjoyment, but at the same time being more the capable of holding it's own against what's run on the roads at the today.
When you consider what else was available back in the 80's, the e30 was a very strong we'll built car. To still see them on the road today is testament to how good they are.
