Crap, can't make that one, let me know when the next one is & I'll try to get along.
First Monday in every month, from about 7:30pm.
Two CC board members are local to this area,so plenty of oppotunity to have a 'dig' if you have a CC issue.
Non-CC members are always made welcome, but expect to be offered an application form.... winkeye
'Summer' evenings can attract a huge range of BMW,we have had turbo powered E30,two Z1's,among other exotica.
I will go to this once my car is taxed (spring time) Not had a running E30 for a while now so it would be good to get about in it. Seeing as I am only in Derby it isn't that far away
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Didnt realise how much this thread had blown up. but thanks for showing me your views.

firstly, i do admit that bmw show santapod 2012 was a rather shiit, No offence to JIm, He done a very good job making us zoners lives easier with arranging tickets and making time out of his busy schedule. I thank you very much for that.

As is the oldskoolers and newskoolers. Think all us active members who still want to keep the e30 hype alive. We all need to put a little effort in, or else this club will just be a boring forum. Im sure we all want to meet up at shows and show of our pride and joy with other car enthusiasts.

I big problem is when people write there names down, and a majority of people dont turn up. ACE CAFE is usually a big example. I turn up most months with Tonyb, Kev, Karl & ross. looks like we are the main few who rep the club. and a few others. More would be better.

But for shows. People may not want to make effort as it may cost them, so i have an idea, If a ticket costs £15, you can charge £17.00, Make £2 per ticket for your time and effort.

We defo need more e30 meets,

If we are hitting an event, I dont mind designing flyers and plugging them on the forum, and plugging them at my work place. SPECIALISTTYRES.CO.UK

If any1 has an event that we will be interested in. Try getting a stand, and flags etc.

E30's maybe getting old and dissapearing slowly, but we all need to keep the e30's alive as we all know it is one of the best iconic bmws ever made,

i dont mind helping out, but its not a 1 man mission. we need more than 1 person. Maybe a team of event organisers on the forum.

A whole lot of this comes down to cash....
Last chairman of BMWCC summed up E30 owners perfectly!

There are exceptions to this, myself among them, but arranging events that require funds is a thankless task.I wish the OP every success with his efforts.

Myself, Pacerpete, simon13, Kos, demlocrew, blitz, are still regulars at ace although I cant commit every month like I used to same with the others I guess. We have all been going for years and it has changed somewhat and I would say is also another influencing factor in why i don't make as much effort to go.

I made it to Pod last year but had to bring my nippers, couldn't really get involved with the bbq and beers as I spent most of the evening keeping an eye on them. It was either take them or not go..

I've been without an E30 for about a year now, but expect to finish my M535i later this year, move it on and fund another E30 with the proceeds. It feels a bit out of place taking a non E30 to a zone meet, although I distinctly remember someone showing up in an Octavia with a BMW badge on the back at a Cov meet some time ago.

I tried to get some zone involvement in the Ashby Folville meets near Leicester in 2010 and 2011 (2nd Tuesday of the month) that have a huge midweek turnout, and a couple of zoners made it on a couple of occaisions. I'll put up some links when they start up again in April - hopefully we can get some more E30's along this time around.

smaller events and "meets" dont cost cash

but like i said, those that sell parts, people like pukar with all the stickers, people like rpm and other traders, who could all be on a zone stand, and make money/profit, and the zone owners/powers, are the ones that need to ge the big event stand thing on the go, and come up with a product at the big shows that can make money regardless of other zoners being there, then get the appropriate stand space, and then get zoners with cars to show there on the stand or however it works ? (ive never been to one to know howit works) , if thats there in place and they drum up business on here and adverise etc, then more people would go

i mean- if a few normal non trader members, try to organise a stand- what can they have there ? nothing, thers no product just a stand with nothing on offer

and how about a parts sale bit, where other zoners turn up in the morning with nice parts/morsels for sale, priced up, leave them there with a reciept, and they are sold to the public and stand makes a percentage, could that work ?

then im sure if there was a decent zone stand at events, it would grow each time, they would make money selling things to the public and thousands of people there

the normal meets local and a bit bigger, cost nothing to do or organise and thats down to everyone to get in on and help and bother with, but the big evets the zone actualy needs some sort of product and attraction of a stand

it just needs a date

thats maybe different to the other dates, different to the aces, the surrey, portsmouth, meets, then that allows for people to be able to get to all or some of them, if they cant make one can try to make the other etc

Miles, point taken.
malcom, jeff has moved on, time for the zone to move on.

the CC is supporting the german show which is zone backed and aiming to get a huge gathering of e30's there.

as for the other shows, such as players, e38, DC Gaydon. there is always space available at these shows and all with happily accommodate a forum stand

Perhaps this could be funded out of a communal pot made up of a very nominal annual subscription fee that ALL Zoners would have to pay to access Zone content....

Is £10 a year going to break anyone's bank? I think not. It might add up to £500+ that could be used to fund big days/events out.....

The German Show has a Zone stand. Ive been the last 2 years and its brilliant. We drive down in convoy from Leicester and meet a few on the way. Takes a few hours but well worth.

Its at Beaulieu... Suprised you havent been Polsta as you live that direction and its arranged by the zone...

for me there are 5 shows a year that i attend

the BMW day at ACE cafe (not to be confused with the monthly meet)
this is always in May

next up is the DC show in june

then there's the uxbridge auto show. A local and a huge event (july)
follwed by the German show

then we have Gaydon

finally it was santapod, but last year i gave it a miss and went to Payers

the german show is the one event that may have some bias towards e30's. that for me is the one that should be embraced by the forum as its home and own event

as ever with every show, some people will say its too far, or complain about the location it is or the pitch you are allocated

personally i dont care, i wash the car, go, look at the other cars, enjoy some banter with mates go home and look forward to the next show.

as ever with every show, some people will say its too far, or complain about the location it is or the pitch you are allocated

personally i dont care, i wash the car, go, look at the other cars, enjoy some banter with mates go home and look forward to the next show.
im game for them, the german show...so why not lets ALL hane a bit of a push for this like you say, to make it the biggun for the zone, beaulie the national museum there too, plus the new forest is a lovely area for a drive, itf its "too far" a 5-5 hr drive isnnt too far, book and make a weekend of it, same as if like i do, thik nothing of a 5 hour drive to manchester to see a band/football , that lasts a couple of hours, not all day, if no ones benn to the area its a lovely area for a weekend away, think of it like that, loads of nice campsites in the forest to stay or b&bs, theres poole, bournemouth for a good night out aswell if you like a good party

would be easy to pick a site out for a "zone camp" and everyone book a night or 2 there, its lioke £15 a night to camp with nice showers and facilities etc

The German show was heavily promoted by Ian H27 Hamilton when it first started and as far as i know he has the E30Zone gazebo and zone stand stuff so where he goes, it goes. Hence no Zone stand at Santa pod this year.
