Surrey meet has been going strong once a month for over 5 years maybe 6. You can't force people to come out. Theres alot of people in and around surrey where we meet that don't bother for whatever reasons.
We all like to eat and chat sh!te. the odd blat up the road if someone has a new steed. I've done the driving to pubs at 15mph the whole way. Its boring and highly council.
If the local meets happen then the rest is more likely to follow. Lets not get going on the moderation/running of this place. Less said the better

The Ace cafe meets used to be a huge contingency of zones eh si! That's fizzled out somewhat now!Simon13 wrote:Surrey meet has been going strong once a month for over 5 years maybe 6. Polsta, there have been a few Pompy/Surrey joint meets in the past but its been a long time since the last.

Sorry guys !
The Zone has taken a back seat in 2012, I was busy with work and RL so something had to give and that was the Zone.
Things have calmed down a bit now and I'm hoping to get the Zone moving again.
Looks like everyone agrees that Zone meets is most in need of sorting so lets start there !

I think we need to organise some local meets and as the numbers pick up i think more people will be willing to travel to attend or even two local meets meeting in a central area

I still have yet to attend a bmw meet at ace cafe may be in the summer when the weather is dry and i can run my image wheels
.
I have attended a vw air cooled night it was great, people had rat, oem, raked, hot rod style cars.
I think the BMW monthly meets are too often so people aren't too fussed if they miss it as it wont be long until the next one. It would be cool if we designated one particular ace cafe bmw meet every year to encourage as many e30s to attend.

i remember when i got my old tech 1 sport i was into the underground cruise scene (even organising a few myself) & the vibe & atmosphere was immense, we eeven went of to nevo (netherfield in notts) to have a go at a bit of streeto drifting before the police clamped down on it.
back in those days there was none of this "scene" shyte of my VAG is better than your ford type crap as everyone was there for the buzz,
it's meets like that that we need to get going on here i:e multi marque get togethers & see what over clubs are into & mix in a bit more.,

I think this won't have helped certainly as a lot of people on here seem to be adverse to getting their cars damp.polsta wrote:maybe last summer was so naff due to the rain ? one of the wettest ever on record
I can't really speak for/about meets with this forum having only been on since April and having a car that isn't roadworthy yet, but 2012 was rubbish for meets for me really (in general). I went to a couple of karting ones and a rolling road with another forum but skipped most of the meets due to my location.
Being in Devon generally means I'm far away from most meets as they are usually more centrally located. Also, driving my shitter of a Mondeo to a BMW meet just feels wrong.
For me, big events like Santa Pod etc. are not my scene. I may be young(ish) but I'm more interested in meeting a bunch of like minded folk and having a spirited drive than going to a show with loads of, well, knuckle draggers. I must be old before my time.
As said before, I am happy to arrange some meets once I move to Bristol. Be it big or small ones, depends entirely on the numbers that want to turn up.

Agree, was the first time i went after hearing all the hype about 'pod this, pod that' and was dissapointed, didn't even take that many pictures i was that hacked off!magpie wrote:if this years gathering at pod is as bad as it was in 2012 then 2014's pod venue will be off the list.
i mean no zone stand/gazeebo/flags WTF!
The only enjoyable part of the day was the 15 odd e30 convoy, meeting with other zoners and leaving.
Ace cafe is a good meet and held once a month.

That's the current problem is money for everyone!! No one will spend spare money on fuel rather than spare parts to keep the old girls going.
I'd love to make it to the German show but running a 325 from up north to Southampton needs a small mortgage.
Things will change the zone just needs to soldier on in between time.
Jims meets are central to most as he's in leicester if only everyone who said they would come actually turns up.
Ps Jim book better weather for this year!!

I have no issues on travelling to E30 meets, when I first bought my Cab, the 1st one I went to was in Wales, 1 1/2 travelling there, all day driving, and a shit drive back in heavy rain, but I did meet "Jesus" that daykangman wrote:Hit the nail on the head.Rav335uk wrote:Also, to add, the shows above are for the "Younger" types, and most on here are either to "Judgemental" or "OEM" and "I don't want to see anything else or my eyes will pop out and my brain will melt"

And i've been to the BBB meets, and that's a good 3hr drive to Colchester from the Midlands, and 3 hrs back.

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

is that the german nights or a proper e30 one ? can anyone look at the aces calendar or whatever and pick a few nights out it can be done ?
personly myself id much rather an evening meet than an early sunday morning meet, a regular ish/monthly meet at aces with e30s galore would be awsome, it would soon grow

An E30 meet would be great. I have owned my E30 for just over 4 years now and I must admit although with my busy schedule I have always looked forward to bmw e30 meets. It’s a time where we all can meet and greet with other e30 enthusiasts.
Having been to a few Ace Café meets over the past couple of years and to be honest although I did not get to speak to many at all due to my tight schedule, its always seemed a quick walk in had a cuppa and then back in the car to drive home and get up for work at 6am.
I have always wanted to go to santa pod and maybe take the lil 4 pot up the stretch a few times to then sit back and enjoy the day with a few beers. That would seem to be a great mid summer’s day out.
I have had a quick browse through the thread and must stress that at the end of everything we all share the same love and passion for our E30’s regardless of our individual small or large modifications.
If the the oldskoolers have left the scene then the new skoolers should arrange some local meets perhaps in and around their city i.e for London Ace Café seems ok & trying to get hold of the oldskoolers somehow would be a nice gesture, let them know the dates, times and locations.
Regardless of race, creed or colour and silly modifications lol we should all get together for the love and passion we have for our motors giving ourselves to get to know one another for the better. A balanced humble and respectful approach to us all will surely bring us off our bottoms and into our cars to the shows and meets.
We are the community of our E30’s and we are the only ones who can bring us all together. I don’t see any other from a different make and model bringing us together.

Regarding 'Zone Roam'....
I went on the very first one,and got involved with the organization of the following three. The last that I was involved with was the one based on a country house near to Jedburgh. This event cost me,personally, over £500....why?
My fellow committee members were happy for me to take on the booking of the house, but refused to allow me to price the event at a fiqure that would cover my costs!
Hence my lack of involvement the following year and since.
I have trailed my coat to generate interest in a 'Zone Roam' type of event in France/Spain on several occaisions, but a lack of interest once money is mentioned means that nothing has been arranged.
BMWCC arrange regular meets in most marts of the country, these are usually flagged up in the 'meets' section,Andyboy and myself are involved with the CC regular meet at Heath(Chesterfield)for example. But newbie's turn up to such events and seem to expect us to magically identify them...instead of coming up to us and introducing themselves...come on guys,if you go to an organised meet for the first time, get yourself involved!
Rant over,deep breath now...

Malc, when is the next meet at heath? If I get chance to go I might pop along, might be in the "daily" though as the sport is off road for a mini resto.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Two CC board members are local to this area,so plenty of oppotunity to have a 'dig' if you have a CC issue.
Non-CC members are always made welcome, but expect to be offered an application form....
'Summer' evenings can attract a huge range of BMW,we have had turbo powered E30,two Z1's,among other exotica.
