I would suggest some new team members personally, some that post regular and would like to organise stuff like this? I only ever see TPS, Morat, Mr Moore, Demlot posting from the team.

I also think that some of the old skoolers have moved on now so with that the enthusiasm for arranging the meets too. Take last year for example, andyp broke up his cabby, adit disappeared off the face of the earth, SCOTT325SE announced his E30 retirement and with supplies of good E30's drying up anyway less and less people own them.

I don't go/can't be arsed with many shows myself so I am not that bothered but the above is my opinion based on an observation. Since the big fall outs last year, it seems to have driven a few away also. New blood I say, get things rolling again? :)

dont forget, its a "car scene" sometimes people dont stary around forever, new peopole come along, not spoke to adi for a while but i just think he went to stay with relatives in spain for a bit, hel be about again and get his cars finished, il be getting in contact when my cars back

but....its down to us all to organise meets and shows, why wait for an admin to say ? anyone can organise, personly ive never been to any of the big bmw shows and im all up for it this summer

do they not already do this at the pod ? a few form here go every year ?

would be great if there was some sort of big e30 meet, all the forums all meeting

maybe someone with the will and desire, or a team, should be taking over from the admin in terms of organising zone events

i don't know about you but i'm more than willing to try & help out in anyway i can to organise an e30 meet at the pod this year as my car should be back on the road by then.

like you say though it needs more than just the admin to step in we all need to get behind it if it's ever going to happen.

E30 forum members do go to shows already, if you read what I put it was relating to the "e30zone" being at a show, not e30 owners who happen to be members on here?

Like I said there was some flags, a gazebo shit like that all with the black and orange e30zone logo on etc, that is what the OP is talking about.

Also yes it is a car scene and people don't stay hence why I said new blood so all you have done is clarify my point.

The zone needs some mods it is obvious and it isn't just me that has said it. The original guys have done a great job in fairness but where are they now (apart from the 4 odd I mentioned) ? They have farked off end of story! :)

Surely then you should create a thread for this in the Meets section, gain interest etc. etc.

so a new "team" of official event organisers, need to be formed, someone to carry on the mantle, hunt the gazeebo down, but along with mods, someone to do more "zone content" ie new ideas, new things to the zone, more articles and stories, someoe doing stickers,t shirets etc, you cant take a jazzy stand/gazeebo to a big show without nothing to really promote as such ?

ie, some people to breathe some new life in to the zone ?

As it stands, the only shows I know of that the E30zone have involvement with is Santa Pod & The German Show. Santa Pod last year was terrible. I organised the show passes so people didnt have to stand on the gate all day but no one else sorted anything else like in previous years, I did try to find out what was going on but got no response :(

The German Show is a great show, very well organised and by far my favourite, which is also organised by the Team, but its also very local to alot of them down south so they can have more involvement.

With the shows, if you see one and think, we should get a E30zone section there, then you need to email the organisers and ask for the space, then get a thread up about it and get names put down. Dont expect others to sort it. They wont and threads like this will keep coming up talking about how good it use to be :D

There will be a few Midlands meets once the warmth returns. Rav organises the one in Coventry at the Carvery which we should get a couple in this year aswell as a couple 'Weekend at Jimmy's' aswell as the odd Sunday afternoon BBQ at mine too rather than camping everytime.

If you have a good idea about a meet, step up and sort it out. Dont expect the people to flood their names down on the list though, some people dont have time, some people dont want to drive 200 miles, some people cant afford what people are talking about doing, most people dont know other members and are put off... etc etc etc

well said jim, just a bit of effort and doing the do

maybe more emphasis on the local meets with some new ideas

i mean- the portsmouth, its on a sunday morning, same people meet same place same time do same thing, whats up withn an evening meet and a cruise, something organised with the surrey lot and a 2 meets driving towards and meeting up somwhere, things like that

if groups of 2`s and 3`s tried to organise more local meets, get them regular ish, then them meets met with orther meets, things could grow a bit , more zoners would meet others on a local then inter county basis, with the organisers of them speaking and pulling together to get groups to attend the bigger shows all meeting up

 fuck it we'll start our own forum, call it zonee30.net. we'll have zone stands/ gazzeebos/ flags f#ck it we'll evem throw in a cake stand

The zone should also have a hall of fame section, where people can post there magazine features winkeye hopefully i can get mine in a magazine next year, even if it is in the back ground of a shot i'd still be happy.
How hard is it to get in a bmw magazine, do you have to apply or do you get spotted at shows?

One thing I'm interested in, E30Zone meets, in general, what happens at them?

I'm used to meets arranged via another forum where we all meet up at one location, chat for a bit, hop into our cars and have a blast to a pub down some good roads, eat, talk etc. hop back in the cars, blast down some more roads and then collect at a final location where chatting etc. continues.
Also used to rolling road days where we meet at Powerstation at 9am, run cars until around 1pm, hop in cars, convoy on down to a pub, have lunch and passenger/test drives.

Both those are via a forum of car enthusiasts with all sorts of different cars. I've been going to the meets since '07 iirc and around '11 they were quite sparce but '12 has seen a big pickup in attendees.

I'm happy to arrange a meet in the spring for SW sort of area people once I've moved and know the area a bit better....but if meets often involve driving good roads, I doubt I'll know many...I can of course arrange one for further into the SW (Devon/Cornwall border) where I know the roads better. I won't be able to arrange until a) car is on the road b) I've moved (mid Feb).

E: As Polsta has said, it would be good to meet up with some local guys for a drink in the pub for new people like myself, get to know some other zoners before meeting a massive load at a big meet. :P

As has already been said guys, local meets at the pub doesn't take a meets organiser or team member to instigate. Do you wait for your Mum to organise a trip for you and your mates to go to the pub on a Friday night, or do you sort it yourselves?

For large meets, car shows, rolling road days etc then that's where the meets organisers come in as they help sort event passes etc and act as a single point of contact between show organisers/rolling road companies etc and the forum members who intend to potentially attend.

Steve asked us mods a while ago what was lacking and what we needed to do to the forum to take it further and keep things fresh and alive and most of us agreed that lack of meets, even small local ones, was one of the major issues. But as I have said, if 6 of you want to meet at the local pub/car park/macdonalds etc on a Sunday afternoon, don't wait for someone else to do it for you, get a move on and be the one who is proactive and suggest it. After all, provide it and they will come as they say.

hence me saying someone needs to get on a money maker too, is there anyone on here who can get t shirts made for example ? pukar does the stickers- a few could get together to do this sort of thing and make money for themselves and promote the zone too, a big zone stand, pukar with a load of stickers, tax holders etc, someone with a load of t shirts, not just zone ones, but a mix of general bmw/e30 ones that would appeal to everyone at bmw shows, petes treats and dukes nuke with a load of morsels, etc etc etc, so they would make money and profit for their work , a bit of enterprise

Good point, but what happened to the zone 'stand' stuff? What happened at the pod, no gazebo, nobody even responded to Jim's efforts/suggestions etc you have to admit it was a little bit shit :)

Could have been a good opportunity to flog a bit of merchandise if nothing else? Rav was there could the gazebo/flags/stock not have been sorted before for him etc?

I don't usually do meets because majority of time I am very busy and my e30's are always in 'project' state but this year I plan to show my face a bit more seeing as my car will have MOT and insurance I only need road tax this year!

Jim worked hard last year, he has always had a boner to be a mod you should give him a chance?

but, people need to just organise their own ones local, get a few together then get them rolling, get a few meet up, then maybe look at the best location, get them regular like the last sunday of the month or whatever, then get more people involved etc, get your local mob a few strong and regular, then speak to the next nearest lot, then look at all meeting up 2 meets meeting etc

I don't see why not, but again, wasn't around at the time so can't answer that one directly.

I hope I'm being transparent enough here guys, just trying to put across what I have felt for a while now. Ok as far as I understand it, Pod last year was poorly represented in comparison to previous years, alot of us were busy (I wasn't even on the forum at all for one reason or another for a lot of the year) so I don't know exactly what/who was or wasn't there, but big one-off events like that aside, the meets section still has Santa Pod threads on page 1. A few years ago it would be lucky if you had anything from the last 2 months on the first page, let alone something from 5 months ago! The meets photo section is even worse, page one stretches a massive 8 months. 2013 really needs to see a push for more local meets, even if it is 6 people meeting for a burger and a beer on a Saturday afternoon or whatever, but it is the members who need to do this, like I said, its no different from getting a few mates together for a pint and a game of pool on a Saturday night, it shouldn't be as hard as it seems to have been over the last few years.

Absolutely, maybe you can mention it in your mods only section and kick some of the admin team up the arse to get back involved (or at least show some interest in general) :)

I think pod happened just after the whole secret room shit and I think sadly the zone team just stayed clear as perhaps the dust hadn't settled?

I will go to meets if I can this year, I have a busy life with childcare usually being my main problem so I won't be suggesting/organising but I will do my best to attend meets this year.

I am all done here now 8)

Loads of discussion on here, and I have skipped through most of it.

But, the truth is, Jim and me have put up Midlands Meet, Jims BBQ Weekends, and I even tried to book the Cosford Breakfast meet.

The problem is, you may have 20 names down, all "Yes, I'll be definitly be there", and then on the day, fook all turn up, only the Local few.
Then the day after, all the shite excuses come on here, and it's the same with the Big meets.

Santa Pod, last year for example, I watched names being put down, and even discussed with Jim previous, that maybe Half the number will turn up on the Day  .

These threads always pop up time to time, and usually before the "Show" period starts.

All I want to say is, if you're not 100% in knowing you want to attend, Don't put your name down!

Also, to add, the shows above are for the "Younger" types, and most on here are either to "Judgemental" or "OEM" and "I don't want to see anything else or my eyes will pop out and my brain will melt"

This is something I have always noticed, but the last two or three years it has went from a minority of the names, to being the majority of the names on a show list.

Absolutely, maybe you can mention it in your mods only section and kick some of the admin team up the arse to get back involved (or at least show some interest in general) :)
Done. Posted in the mods forum

If you haven't already seen this thread

I'd recommend reading it. Good input from quite a broad demographic of members as well as input from some of the team & meets organisers already.

Hopefully some of the stuff within that thread can supplement what we have previously discussed in Steve's thread here

Link Removed as non team members wouldn't have been able to open it anyway

Peace

I've always been touch and go with commitments due to my varied shift work pattern and I never put my name down until I'm 99% sure I can make it.

I enjoy tip toeing around and the last time I had a good drive out was Jim's redneck resort oh and I see more of the Yorkshire stripper Topless, both redneck Counties come to think of it!!

If Rav was a good meets manager then we wouldn't have this void of meets

Used to enjoy the Toby Carvery meets nr Coventry/Solihull even though the venue was a bit cack really but they did kind of fizzle out the last couple we had - maybe a change of venue ?

The Cosford Breakfast club meet is great if you can get up early enough and is due to make a return this Year - doesnt really take much organising - I think we've asked for Zone spaces in the past but the reality is if you get there early enough you can generally park all together.

1st Time I've been to the Pod in 2012 - was OK but not great - cold, quite expensive and a long way for me for just an OK day out - I'd go again I suppose but wouldnt lose any sleep if I missed it.

The best meets for having a laugh have been the ones at Jims  Although I'm too old and grumpy for camping

Forget stuff like the NEC Classic car show - as the Zone is free for all and I expect the NEC charge a fortune for a stand it aint gonna happen - I dont recall seeing any car forums exhibiting there last Year.

As already said - meets are great if people can be bothered to show up.
