I have notices that we dont do as many car shows as we should.

We need to be hitting PLAYERS, EDITION38, FAST SHOW, CLASSIC CAR SHOW, RETRO SHOW AND more.

who is usually incharge of EVENTS??

we need more official e30zone meets&shows

Dont think anyone actually takes control when it comes to events. We have meet organisers who arrange for local get togethers but from what I see, there isnt many of them going on through the summer months either.

More shows would be good though even if its only a small turn out

there are regional Meets Organisers. Not sure who covers your area, perhaps worth dropping a PM to Rav335uk, he may be able to help you.

None of the zone admin even post anymore so doubt they care about meets either.

I would suggest some new team members personally, some that post regular and would like to organise stuff like this? I only ever see TPS, Morat, Mr Moore, Demlot posting from the team.

I also think that some of the old skoolers have moved on now so with that the enthusiasm for arranging the meets too. Take last year for example, andyp broke up his cabby, adit disappeared off the face of the earth, SCOTT325SE announced his E30 retirement and with supplies of good E30's drying up anyway less and less people own them.

I don't go/can't be arsed with many shows myself so I am not that bothered but the above is my opinion based on an observation. Since the big fall outs last year, it seems to have driven a few away also. New blood I say, get things rolling again? :)

When I first joined up to the zone, I remember pics of pod 2008 with a zone gazebo and a nato green E30 underneath etc, nothing like that now.

Pod 2012 was w@nk. E30 zone 'stand' might aswell have been a pub car park, it was that crap (E30zone involvement) DanThe decided to park his Chromie up in his own little area.... :P :)

It seems that the regular posters are very spread out around the UK, so meets and events are much harder to organise for E30Zone only. E36Coupe.com (now often referred to as BMWOwner) have a larger following and arrange meets which also get posted up on here though which allows for more meets, but then they are general BMW and not model specific obviously.

I've not been about long to be honest so don't know how good/bad this forum was before I joined up but it doesn't seem to have too much in the way of a community going on, unlike various other forums I'm on. There do appear to be more and more people signing up and showing interest in E30s, but then there are also lots of the 'old' folk that berate new members and quite likely make them feel unwelcome which doesn't help with meets/shows.

I'd like to go to / organise a meet or two in 2013, but I'm in the middle of changing jobs, moving house, getting the E30 on the road and some other things, all over this month through end of Feb. Once I've moved I'll have no clue about the area or where is good for meets etc. though so trying to set some up could be pointless. :P

I think we have something planned at falkirk for the E30s 30th Birthday, big meet, also that gumball style rally polsta mentioned seemed excellent.

Everyone needs to bear in mind that a role on the E30zone is not paid and is entirely down to the goodwill of those who are 'in office'. For example, it can take a fair amount of time and stress to organise a meet, especially for shows with car lists, organising passes, sorting out the stand etc.

My view is that if you want to attend a meet and it's not already organised on the zone, contact your local meets organiser and find a way to make it work. The Meets Organisers are there to help, not do all the work.

I've seen the amount of abuse you get...don't need to have been around when you signed up.

That's the thing, Falkirk isn't exactly an easy reach for everyone. The regular posters I see appear to be very spread out which as I said, makes arranging meets/events rather difficult which is a shame, understandable though as there are less and less E30s about every day.

E: The Zone also appears to be very cliquey to be honest, rarely letting new members join in until established, which can also deter people. I initially found I disliked the place, I've grown to like it though due to the wealth of knowledge etc. but I think if someone isn't willing to 'stick it out' they will just leave and not come back/not contribute and be 'part of the community'.

I think youl find that most forums are like that, you do get a hard time but if you stick it out its a great place to be. Falkirk is a big of a travel but the zone used to do nurburgring trips and the like. Would anyone be up for that later in the year or 2014?

Also true, though if you are a Team member or meets organiser you would have at some point agreed that you accept the 'above and beyond the call of duty' attitude?

I am not slagging anyone off here but sometimes a fresh face or two and some new enthusiasm can do the world of good?

Like this COTM thing, why not give some of the winners the opportunity to fly the zone gazebo at the next event local to them etc, I don't know I am just chucking random ideas in :)

verde wrote:I think youl find that most forums are like that, you do get a hard time but if you stick it out its a great place to be.
Yeah, I do see it with other forums but I am more used to forums that span a range of interests rather than single marque ones. I am happy to stick it out and see what a forum is like though, but I suspect a lot of other people just aren't prepared to do that if they get a bit of a cold reception.
verde wrote:Falkirk is a big of a travel but the zone used to do nurburgring trips and the like. Would anyone be up for that later in the year or 2014?
Due to insurance and the potential closure of the Nurburgring I think those sorts of trips are done really. Something to look into though in a similar vein is the LeMans 24hr race in June, full weekend of racing and arsing about in France for not a lot of money.

I deffo think maybe a big road trip to somewhere like france or the ring, if it is closing then god sake we should wish it a big E30 fairwell, might rekindle zone spirits a bit. The whole internet warrior thing happens aswell, people say things they wouldnt say in life, its easy to say fuck you to new members, whereas if there we lots of meets and new faces etc. people would get on better. Its very easy to be a prick from the safety of a 500 mile gap

Or make the forum shut down totally! :P

The issue with continental road trips is it involves a huge amount of organising which is something a lot of people just wouldn't want to do.

There is/was a "Zone Roam" at one point that did a similar thing but there is no way you would get big numbers doing a trip to the ring or France etc!

The organising of it and the money side would be waaay to stressful and you can guarantee that people will say they are going then they aren't bla bla etc

Plus if I had a spare £500 I wouldn't be going abroad with E30zone forum members :)

at the end of the day it's all well & good us all saying something needs doing but is someone going to stand up & get a meet sorted??

i remember a while back there was a thread about the DC show & there was quite a few zoner's there, same as santa pod a while back.

even if we can just get more than a hand full of members & their cars to santa pod this year that would be a start, & then take it from there.

how about all the meet's organisers getting together to try & sort it? there must be a way they can get together & try it surely?? why not start ONE thread about going to santa pod & take it from there?

look at e30owners, they have the big meet once a year, thats why i was suggesting an e30zone meet at the pod,
just an idea.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

E36Coupe.com have pretty large meets (that E30Zone are invited to) all the time, especially in the SW. Woody arranges loads, like one a month nearly.

There are people trying to arrange meets in the meet section, so that isn't really an issue. It's more a case of others looking at the meet section and signing up and turning up.
