ok iv fitted the m3 hubs, disks and brakes onto my e30 and was told id need a minimum of 16" wheel to clear the brakes, just bought some 16" and they still catch the caliper. has anyone else had 16" on theirs. baring in mind my wheels are the 5 spoke z3 wheel.

Sounds like they won,t fit an m3 either, what offset are they? Some m3 owners on here could prob confirm it either way.

If we are talking e36 m3 hubs/brakes, I tried loads of 16 inch wheels. None fitted so I ended up with 17's

Ah yes, that would make sense then....

You really can't fit 16s over the hubs??,I think il scrap that idea then!...

Hi, sory yes there e36 m3 hubs/brakes. Think il just have to use 17" wheels. What size are the original m3 e36 motorsport wheels.? I thought they were 16"

If you want 5 stud and 16" wheels i have found a way to fit 300mm discs under 16" compact 5 stud 7 spokes.
There is a small possibility they may fit under some motorsport 15" wheels.
Haven't fully finalised anything yet though so have kept quiet about it.

Yes the calipers catch the wheels so 17" or motorsport 16" wheels with more clearance are the only option.
Another bet may be to try fitting up e46 325/328 300mm calipers which do go under 16" minimum wheels.

No, very much not, the 5 stud swap has many issues to address which is why there is so many ways of doing it and no perfect way.
It is always a balance between initial cost, long term upkeep cost, reliability, parts availability and perceived performance/strength.
Guess its a case of you pays your money you takes your choice.

i have read a few times that the twin 5spoke 16in e36 wheels will fit over m3 brakes, but have never tried it. there may be others off 5 / 7 series which will fit but it'll be trial and error.

all e36 m3 came with 17in wheels as standard.
cheers,

harry

yeah i can actualy believe there are some 16" wheels that will fit as it's only catching on my wheel by mm and if the alloy was thinner then id probably just get the clearance i need. maybe even grind a nats nakker off the caliper, but id sooner not lol

The 7 series 16x8 BBS wheel will fit over the M3 brakes (tested on a Z3M), but the offset is wrong so the wheels stick out.

Possibly, he'd probably have more luck than those with standard arches. I know of one E30 running this setup without M3 arches, from the US IIRC, but he did have arch issues.

They fit on mine (E30 M3 suspension), but still catch the front arches at the top when turning, this is likely a combination of drop, wheel offset, slightly wider front track and non-M3 arches - although I've seen M3s can have the same rubbing issue.
