first .... Late merry Xmas and early happy new year!!!

Now lol.... I have a H plate e30 325i convertible and my rear lights have the reverse lense in a vertical angle....today I see a G reg e30 convertible with the reverse lense in a horizontal angle....can someone explain cos I thought the older models all had vertical reverse lense and late 1990 models had horizontal reverse lense?

Merry new year to you also.

The convertibles are a confusing one at times. But G platers are more likely to have the earlier M3 style lights with the vertical reverse light lens. We see a fair number of convertible ringers on here where an early car has the later rear panel. We've also seen a few that have had later rear panels grafted on which means cutting the rear quarter's vertically to accept the rear section of the later quarters with the deeper rear light aperture.

But I'd say that nearly all G regs should have the earlier rear lights and that what you saw was one with some "previous" story of some sort. The question is, what front fogs did it have? If they were the later style then it definately has some dubious history I'd say.
