Im having big problem finding 17" bbs RS wheels in a 4/100
and as 5/120 bbs rs are very common, im thinking of converting my 4stud hubs to 5stud
i have been told e36 compact hubs will go straight on, correct me if im wrong
and if anyone has had a 5 stuff conversion done, any info would be great. thanks, faz

I've got a pair of compact trailing arms up for grabs if you need a set. They could do with a tidy up, but I don't want a ton of money for them.

E30 M3 rear hubs go on to all e30 rear arms. They are however about £500 a pair
Also, BBS RS's in 17's wil not be cheap, added to that the cost of a 5 lug set up using e36 compact parts you'll be better of buying some Image DM wheels. A set 8x17's will be £1500.

I have done the 5-stud with E36 M3 Evo front kindpins, wishbones, hubs, brakes etc and E36 Compact rear arms, as per the zone article. Except I used E36 Compact coilovers for shocks & springs.
PITA and very expensive! Need a better reason than JUST wheel fitment to go through with it imho.

Hi Faz,
We are currently developing custom front Hubs to fit straight onto the standard E30 front leg which will offer immediate 5 stud setup.
They will come with a few options for abs rings so as you can match your rear setup. Ie if you fit e30 m3 rear hubs we can ensure your ABS remains functional. Same with the E36 rear trailing arms, Just let us know what you'll be using and fit them on when they arrive.
They will ready for purchase in Feb hopefully.
If you 'like' our facebook page we have regular updates too
If you need any further help please do not hesitate to contact us.
Cheers

Everyone has tried making a 5 lug hub to work with a stock e30 strut/stub
If a good, cost effective workable and safe idea could have been done or would have been done by now
Shaz325i sport was trying to do it and that didn't work out iirc.
It's no secret that the M3s rear hubs bolts up as such to the stock e30 trailing arm, what puts people off is the costs. And then you need calipers & carriers, discs etc
There is no benefit of going 5 stud bar the wheel options.
Buy the image wheels, it's going to be cheaper than any 5 lug conversion and 5 lug wheels

I'd be interested to see how they've solved the inner race dimensions. Im Guessing it may be 'like' the other German parts offered on another website (sleeved)
We are remaking the whole hub with custom bearing and design. If you chose not to use the expensive e30 m3 rear hubs but instead chose the e36 318ti rear arms, we would supply the correct (abs compatible) hub to work with rear end you choose to use.
Our setup will allow you to use the standard e30 calliper if you wish, We will make them to order so we can also increase spacing etc to spec.
I will post links when they're officially launched

there's only one way, E30 M3 front legs, expensive I know but far better than a "custom hub"

I'm looking at getting the E36 M3 Evo complete front brake & suspension set up in Jan. Gonna cost me £325 for the lot. Just tracking down the rear Z3 6cyl hubs and brakes...

Faz,
I am splitting a 5stud setup off my 325Sport.
see pics below...
E36 M3 Evo front hubs, brakes, calipers, brand new dampers(zero miles), brand new bump stops, top mounts, brand new springs, offset lollipop bushes, e36 compact rear trailling arms, Bilstein rear dampers, complete rear subframe with bushes that have covered only 7000 miles, relatively new bushes in trailling arms, drive shafts includes, rear brakes included (new rear brakes) - basically everything that you need to simply bolt-up the front and back. Looking at £600 (absolutely firm) as the entire setup is almost completely new.
Pics of the car with said wheels on it.. minus an engine and with an empty car, hense the big arch gaps!

True, it can be done! Sadly, because I went with coilovers, new brake discs and newly refurbed calipers, + all new polybushes it did work out quite expensive...Craggy73 wrote:I'm looking at getting the E36 M3 Evo complete front brake & suspension set up in Jan. As for other benefits of this method, you do get some extra track (therefore lower roll centre) and some 312mm front brakes with 60mm caliper pistons. But (usually) need 17" wheels to clear them.

Thanks for all your replies people. Much appriciated.
you mentioned about the IMAGE WHEELS. i checked them out and they are 3 peice be-spoke custom make wheels. I like the idea of that and they come in 4 stud also.
They are expensive, But as im in the trade, I managed to get trade prices, so hopefully im going to fit on some image wheels. Alot of e30s have bbs so i think it would be nice to be a little different,
scott325se i would have taken them off you. but now i need time to think now as your offer sounds good.

If you hunt around it can be done cheap, mine was sub £200 all round, Compact rear end and E36 m3 evo front inc brakes - not including coilovers and bushes

no problems, i have a few people interested in them. I think the new dampers, new springs, new bump stops is encouraging for people, as they know all the suspensions gearing is new. 5stud over 4stud any day - just think - you get a massive brake upgrade at the same time!faze30 wrote:

Those image wheels are very nice bits of kit. You won't be disappointed.

There are plenty of nice 4 stud replica wheels out there, better and cheaper than the originals too
