ive been driving the car without a temp gauge for a while now and i really need to sort it, basically i had a look at the temperature sensor for the e30 and for the m52 , the e30 one has 2 wires coming from it, but the m52 has 4? , how can i wire my e30 gauge up so i dont have to fit aftermarket one,

any help would be appreciated

the 4 pin is for the engine temp to the ECU (blue sensor) the 2 pin is for the gauge (brown sensor)

you need the 4 pin hooked up or the ECU will think the engine is stone cold all the time and will be over fueling big time

i could be wrong as it was sometime ago i did mine

You need to find the brown/violet wire in the 4 pin plug and snip it then run that wire to an e30brown sensor screwed in next to the 4 pin one.
