If you Got "Haters",Then your doing something Right!
CR24v??? Where's it all gone?? LOL
Pics for those who've requested:

Two bits I'm amazed haven't rusted. Bootlid is like new also, do these go? Lower part of the doors are fine too!

I'm still a little baffled by it's condition tbh- i think with a decent clean up, it'll look like new!
Apologies about the terrible quality- iPhone in that kind of light is useless!

Perfect! Thanks matey!e301988325i wrote:Forget your list, there is little reason any of it needs to be done and will cost hundreds (leads circa £150 from the stealer), do a few critical bits and make sure it works first and wasn't laid up for a reason.Budgie325 wrote:Rant score. 3/10.
First thing this thing will get after a clean is a full service. Before it's even turned over, obviously.
Cambelt & water pump.
Coolant change
New rad & hoses
Oil & filter change
Air filter
Fuel filter
Plugs
Lead&dizzy inspection
Valve clearances..
Anything else required?
new petrol, new petrol filter, new engine bay petrol lines
Oil and filter, OIL SPRAY BAR (under rocker cover)
Cam belt & tensioner (checking water pump not seized)
Yeah, that's all no problems. One of my good mates at work is an ex-senior tech at BMW, so cambelt, tensioner and water pump is definitely the first thing that'll happen before it runs.
Continental cambelt kit is ~£45 on Euro Car Parts atm, that sound about right?

Looks tidy, a good find..well done that man....
After having further chats with the owner, the reason it was tucked up in the garage was because someone slashed the hood and stole the front seats. Hence the replacements that have been sourced not being fitted (and the drivers one being very tatty).
Hoping i can source a good condition passenger seat and use the best bits from my drivers and a new passenger? Are the covers interchangeable?

nice Find, damn shame someone has wittered the now valueable tech 1 kit
Yeah, pretty gutted about the tow bar. Guy used this a few years ago to tow his jet-ski.e30topless wrote:nice Find, damn shame someone has wittered the now valueable tech 1 kit
It'll be going, no questions about that.

Our assessment of this old girl depends greatly on what you paid! So how much she set you back then?
You'll need to completely take the seats apart and even then, iirc changing the parts just isn't worth the hassle. I thought about doing it for mine but after taking the passenger seat to pieces (mostly) I realised that you need to completely strip them down due to the lever mechanisms and belt clips etc. It'll just be easier to buy a new set of seats.
Nothing like being vague.Budgie325 wrote: What would you have paid?
It could range from £200-£2000 or so that you've paid, I'd hope that it is a lot closer to the £200 mark than the £2000 mark though.
Definitely had the windscreen surround resprayed.DanThe wrote:Cheap respray alert-
You need to be looking very closely at that car, it could be hiding some nasties, that paint will be flaking away from the glass rubbers after a few jet washes.
The car looks good though in the pictures, especially if it was a bargain.

I like that! I realise the pics probably make it look nicer than it is in the flesh, but none the less, it looks in very good nick.
The first thing I would do is rip that stupid boot spoiler with the built
In brake light off!

Yeah, it's had a full respray apparently. Nothing nasty underneath, it's a family friend's car so they'd know if anything dodgy had gone on.
Gert- the picures make it look worse. With a quick wash over, it really will look awesome. I could barely believe it when i uncovered it.
Yeah, i'm tempted to lose the spoiler too, but will do it when i source a new back bumper as i'll want it all painted together (to lose the holes). Unless the tech 1 spoiler covers them that is- will have to see!

Many guys on here that are good sellers, but Pete has a "special" touch.
Seriously, he's a gentleman and the price is always right

It's an interesting car/project/story and I like that....so I'd have handed over just under a grand happily enough, say £950....leaving a nice wad in my pocket to begin the refurb.Budgie325 wrote:alexdejonghe wrote:Our assessment of this old girl depends greatly on what you paid! What would you have paid?
Am I close to your magic number?
