Right I'm looking to do a rack conversion on my m30'd turd, i need to weigh up a few things. What are the rack options out there? What bits are needed for each rack and which is the best?

Any help / experience / info would be much appreciated!

E46 rack is a popular swap nowadays, you will need to cut and shut the M30 manifold to clear the pinion (there's details where to cut in my thread)somewhere), the rest is normal rack swap stuff like hoses spacers etc...

The steering rack from a e46ti compact has a better ratio over the standard e46, this would be my choice.

thing is when fitting the e46 067 rack do you have to fit the oil cooler in the return line? or will it work fine without it??
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

I have two E30's without coolers using the E46 rack, also know/work on several B and C class Kumho E36's using the rack that have had the cooling coils removed, never ever known a problem, Dexron 3 oil is the best

A concern is the m30 manifold. How do you mean cut and shut the manifold?

As far as I can remember my down pipes are no where near the rack.... Need to have another look when I get back. Currently in Milan eating pizza and drinking beer!

I take it the Z3 rack is the one too look for?
