It was great it doesnt have any issues past 2000 revs.
My hairs wet right enough sun roof panel is quite rotten but I knew that already lol.
Trying to negotiate asda car park without PAS with a steamed up turd that needs high revs is interesting and a pure enbarrassment as the rain runs down my face as people are watching me wrestle the wheel

There is usually a diaphragm on the side of the dizzy, with a thin pipe going to the inlet manifold, or a stub from one of the carbs.
Remove the dizzy cap, and remove the inlet manifold end of the pipe, suck on it and see if the base plate in the dizzy moves. If you can easily suck without any vacuum, the diaphragm has perished and needs replacing.

Unclip dizzy cap will look into that... underneath the cap there sits a metal case that looks like a bicycle bell and if I remeber correctly there is a pipe running from that which is referenced in the top right of your diagram and that runs to the top of the engine? unplug the pipe where it enters the top of the engine (manifold) if I suck on that end and a part that is under the dizzy cap and will be visable when its off if that moves and I dont find a vacuum I need a new part?
Sorry thats in mongo but just trying to make sure I understand you.
P.S if I end up with a mouth full of something Im going to never speak to you again! This has all the hallmarks of a noise up.

Yes, sucking on the inlet manifold/carb end of the pipe should cause the distributor baseplate to move, as the advance diaphragm pulls it.
Obviously, suck gingerly at first just in case there's fuel in the pipe.
If when you suck, there's no resistance (vacuum), the diaphragm has perforated and needs replacing.

You could see if it has a part number on and try either your local stealer or the Cotswold BMW parts department on this forum.

Sounds like a normal day in an Asbo car park . All Paul needed was the Lambert dog end hanging out of his mouth for the full house council scummer look
Unsuprisingly he does not shop at Waitrose.

Look we're only having a bit of banter, your escapades are amusing but the pain you reap on yourself is comical, I do admire your enthusiasm but its like how pete says
And to boot a leaky rusty sunroof ?? God knows the extend of that lies under that and the head lining etc ? Has a zoner checked this carbuncle out yet ? (Classic that was pete)

Aye Boyd had a look round it. His opinion was good car for the money and ideal for engine swap, he isnt a fan of the webers either though.
Ive had the carpets up and its all solid with no issues on any external panels. I should probably stuff something around the aerial to stop the water coming in and rotting in there.
I havent been under it yet though. Weather has been fookin foul since I got it.

Its not about the bags, its about the experience. An Asbo visit is a freak show too far for a miserable old cooont like me.
We need pics of your roof / sunroof panel ! I have had the misfortune of owning/ driving some shocking hounds but I have never been rained on with the sunroof closed !

That's nothing to be pleased with. I have never seen a turd with a rotten sunroof panel have an intact cassette/roof once you have removed all the rust. From the sounds of it, she wants binning/serving to some unsuspecting victim.318isPMK wrote:Well there you go... I have one up on you
Im trying to find a manual panel for around £50 but I dont think it exists

They should be able to, or at least get one in on order for you.

Is this with a replacement battery, or the same one you fitted previously?
Sounds like you need to take it back and get another, possibly heavier duty one.

RE oil filter, for the sake of a few quid , use a Genuine one . Re the battery issue, assuming the battery is new and not faulty, the car MUST have a drain. you need a better auto electrician
