My brother runs a bodyshop and does great paintwork, but he is in Canterbury, Kent.

A full respray on an E30 Convertible would be around £1,000, assuming that the bodywork is in good shape to begin with.
You could try giving my brother (Tom) a ring for a quote, and mention my name for a discount.

If you want a proper job, £1000 will not really cover it. There is lots of prep, removing bumpers and trim as well as the screen and plenty more. A mate of mine has set ip his own bodyshop after 14 years BMW. Needless to say he's very good, but is up in Chesterfield.
Defiantly, even on a cabby a grand is a cheap joes price, not a "quality" job from a real quality professionalAndyboy wrote:If you want a proper job, £1000 will not really cover it. I know a very decent painter, a few zones have been there on my recommendation and got work done and been delighted, but he's near Portsmouth and not cheap, but you get what you pay for and something of very high standard
...my executive express will be heading up there shortly, you're more than welcome to check out the finished article when it's doneAndyboy wrote:If you want a proper job, £1000 will not really cover it. To me a £1k spray job would shout 'decent blow-over' with most things just masked up instead of removed...?
If I were to get just the outside of my 2dr resprayed I'd be thinking £2-3K for a proper job.

Thanks suchy, it should just need a sand down and spray, as no rust or dents.suchy wrote:To me a £1k spray job would shout 'decent blow-over' with most things just masked up instead of removed...?

I guess 1000-1500 is realistic and should get a fairly good end result.

you are in Stroud right Matt? My mate who does all my bodywork is exceptional, not the cheapest but as mentioned here you REALLY do not want to be skrimping on paintwork!
His name is Ben and he is based in Cinderford in the FoD
This is my e36 touring after he painted it

The Forest isn't a million miles from you mate!

I'd rather use one of their former painters, a chap called Sunny. He's set up on his own and he is goodruffryder wrote:jags bodyshop... in essex...

A 1k spray job will be shit unless its mates rates or the car has already been stripped.
For the car to go in be stripped, painted, polished and built back up.
That's going to be 2k plus.
I could recommend a very good painter but I'm miles away

I had lots of extra bits and pieces done at the time so it worked out more, but the base cost of a doors-closed respray is around £1500, give or take obviously depending on what car it is.
He has broken up for Xmas now, but if you are interested, just drop me a pm in the new year sometime. It's not all that far for you to just float over there and discuss exactly what you want and he will give you a quote. He's a good mate and a thoroughly nice chap! Very sound and honest. He has a guy working with him aswell who is astounding at fabrication/prep work.
If you need anything just gimme a shout!

I ve had my cabby done by a mate who runs his own booth and it's top notch, I still payed the guts of 2k but
This included the bay and under bonnet etc. I would avoid a 1k reprint at all costs as it risks being a blow over.
My painter is in Bolton, pm me if you want his number.
