I think he means the bottom of the steering column, not the bottom end of the engine!

Sat for a day and a half went out and its completely dead Im loosing patience!!!
Its had a new battery. The radio and lights are working but there is absolutely nothing when I turn the key over. I ket the vibration of the fuel pump and then just a half arsed noise. But no spark... no power nothing.
Even more annoying is I have 4 tyres in the back that were supposed to be it sorted!
Anyone ideas or does anyone want this turd off me?

A battery drain could be anything or everything in the car. Read this:

When you try turning the engine over, do the dashboard lights dim, and is there a click from the starter solenoid, or nothing at all?
Do you have an OBC fitted? If so, maybe the immobiliser is activated, preventing any starting.

How about the dashboard lights, do they dim when you turn the key?
If not, it may be a loose connection to the starter solenoid.

Well, that would suggest a flat battery, not having enough juice in it to crank over the starter.
Try recharging it, and check for any drains such as boot light staying on, etc.

Well, with a replacement battery (if needed - maybe the new one just needs charging, as it may have been left on the shelf for a while and partially discharged itself) and a check for any drains, all should be well again.

Disconnect a battery terminal, and with everything switched off, use a multimeter on the 0-200mA setting to measure the current drain (wire it in series between the battery terminal and the lead you just removed from it).
Current drain should be no more than around 20mA or so. Any more indicates an excessive drain so you need to remove fuses one by one until you find out what is causing that drain.

Get a meter (set to milliamps) in series with the battery negative lead. I'm sure it's all in the wiki.318isPMK wrote:any simple tips for checking for drains?

You can buy a cheap multimeter for under £3 or so, so there's no real excuse for not having one!

I've owned the second of those multimeters listed above for a few years now, and it's been reliable - a very good general-purpose meter, and nice and light to carry about.
How they can actually sell them for less than £3 is beyond me!

I've never made out it's a state it is what I was after one needing TLC but is fundamentally quite solid body work wise.
The dash lights are flattery the yellow light is on and the red light comes off and on even when it's running okay.
The handbrake light doesn't go on and the main ((!)) Light has an intermittent flutter. Its a bit disconcerting but it drives no bad and I haven't found any rust in the obvious spots.
