Right, so I went to put my rear springs on the cab back on and noticed that one of them is snapped and by the looks of things, it has been for some time.

I have looked at the wiki section on rear springs and it says that the Touring and Cabriolet have springs that cope with their extra weight at the back.

What I'd like to know though is, are the Touring and Cabriolet springs the same?

Where possible I'm scavenging parts from the touring to sort the cab out. I have one spring on the touring at the moment (when I got it there was just the one) and I recall it isn't snapped. So I'm thinking that rather than buying a new/replacement pair I can (at least to pass the MOT) use the one from the touring.

I don't think they're identical, but I run cabriolet spec Eibachs on my touring with no obvious ill effects.

One down side to me putting the touring spring on (despite load rates) is that I *think* the touring was lowered which means the cab would still sag on one corner.

That is the snapped spring. At least one large coil is gone, as is obviously the tight coil. Annoyingly I spotted this problem after having struggled to fit the other spring (not snapped) so if I have to get a pair, will need to remove the sodding thing and replace it. :(

If it would help you out,I have two odd rear springs in my stash, one has a silver mark and the other is yellow, the latter is very slightly longer and rustier.

For the moment I've put the touring spring on the cab. It's arse is still up in the air at the moment though so I can't see if it'll sit lopsided yet or not (need to fit the exhaust and test/adjust the handbrake).

I need to get the car on the road before Feb and have some other large bills upcoming so hopefully this will sit ok and pass the MOT. Then I'll change for a pair of correct springs (possibly a drop if I feel like it).
