Hi..
I've got a e30, 316i, 1989. M40 engine..
I had Idling issues for a few months after putting it back on the road after 2 years..
The car was not set right. The throttle body was wrong, The induction cone was poorly fitted. The air intake the hoses had splits in, The throttle switch was full of carbonised oil. The idle control valve seems to be working.
I've sorted everything I've found so far but i couldn't help but fiddle with the mixing screw at various points. Don't ask why, I've convinced my self I've not got it quite right...
The car idles fine around 800 rpm when it's warm but it's lumpy in the morning. How can i check? do i take a resistance reading across the variable resister? if so what reading should it be?
Also i read in the Haynes manuel that a worn o ring on the brake servo can cause vaccum problems.. could this also be a likely cause?
any help on this would be greatly appreciated :D

You need an exhaust gas analyzer to set the fuel air ratio correctly at idle, or it can fail an emissions test.
