Hi, my viscus fan is missing a blade. Ive sourced a 2nd hand job which Im hoping to fit without removing the rad. A mate of mine reckons a 32mm spanner on the fan nut and turned to the right should remove it but the belts etc move with the fan pulley. How do I lock it up and do you reckon the rad has to come out to swap em?
Cheers

You will need to use the shock method

Put the spanner on the nut and hit it clockwise with a hammer

You might have to do it a couple of times but it never fails for me :)

If its just the fan you want to remove - then its 4 bolts using an allen key - just take of the fan shroud and you should be able to access them. Rad can stay in.

I usually use a hammer and a screwdriver to shock it off.

Can't you access the 4 bolts holding the fan on from the front and just change the fan rather than undoing the viscous clutch?

I have a proper chunky 32mm spanner, cost me a tenner a few years ago.
Nothing worse than seeing molested 32mm viscous nuts*.
