That's a bit unfair. Stevie was a complete mong who struggled to string a sentence together where as at least verde is coherent.

The simlarity with Imy lies with the dubious taste in car modification and the talk of big plans and ideas that are unlikely to ever be seen through to the end.

Well fuck me for having an ambition. How dare i. You can call me many things but I dont bullshit. Most things iv said id do to my car iv done or am in the process. I said it would be sprayed and tech 2ed over winter and people said it wasnt going to happen...well its already ready to be prepped and the tech 2 has been test fitted.

Let's be realistic.

You're what? 17/18? Don't have a job and haven't past your driving test after failing it once already.

Supercharged M50 in a year? I think not and talk of nailing second hand OE chargers on to an M50 not even fitted means a, you're trying to do it on a budget (already a fail) and b, you wont be able to afford the insurance if you cant even afford to do the SC installation properly.

Plenty of adolescent zoners have talked a big game but not seen things through. You're not the first and no doubt won't be the last.

A bog standard 325i BMW would probably be out of reach insurance wise for an 18 yr old with a years driving, nevermind a supercharged m50 heavily modified e30 ????...

By january itl be tech 2ed and sprayed. I dont intend to swap out the engine until next winter at the earliest. I dont drink so i have shit loads of money, people my age spend up to 100 quid a week on alcohol and fags...i dont. I save it.

Nothing wrong with a bit of research, whether it comes to anything or not is hardly important?

Mini charger is Eaton M45, too small for a 2.5l engine.

You would be looking at a m62 as fitted to Merc Kompressors.

Couple of threads to have a read through.

In all honesty, a turbo is a much more efficient way of extracting more power, tried and tested and will probably end up being cheaper.

I'm sorry I don't follow the verde show/stalk you on the zone but the fact remains you haven't passed your test and you're talking about supercharged M50's.

Why don't you learn to drive first?

Id just rather you have facts before you for very firm arguments and opinions when actually theyr completely wrong

The driving thing however is a very valid point. The waiting list for tests is horrific and iv been knocked back to february because my instructer cant make it til then. I said in the OP the m50 wont be til next winter giving me a year of driving experience. The blower will be the year after.

Wow....insurance companies are going to love you. :D

A 21/22 year old with 1-2 years experience, running an 'old bmw' with 'a big engine' is going to produce some brilliant quotes!

It's bad enough insuring a standard 325i cab in my mid 20s (looking at ~700pa) and I've been driving since I was 17 (full license 6 months after 17th birthday). I have a very good postcode, no accidents or convictions in the past few years and 3 or 4 years NCB.

EDIT: When I was running my last E36 I phoned round companies and was given £1200-£2500 quotes because "It's a BMW sir" despite it being a 1.9 i4 and being able to insure hot hatches for £200 or so. I sorted it to 600 or so first year and 340 second year by hunting around mind.

EDIT2: I'd also like to add...I hope when you do pass your test you insure the E30 fully, as in, modified, because putting the Tech kit on it counts as a mod!

My current insurance is 700 quid. I need to phone up. I should be able to get a reasonable deal as we have 4 cars on the one company and have used them for 10 years.

Insurance pre-test is always cheaper than insurance post-test. The reason being, someone is with you so you are less of a risk (in theory). I hope you're insuring it in your name and not fronting it too.

That will rocket up once test is passed and you have a licence, also with the tech 2 kit and all other mods, might even make it uninsurable for a 1st time passer-to insurance companies that will scream boy racer etc etc, even then a 1.8 BMW might be a no go to a 1st time test passer at your age

Im sick of having to repeat myself because folks still dont read. If you look up youl see that iv checked after test rates and they go up by maybe 50 pounds. I live in a rural area with no towns/cities and very little traffic. I also work for the government so that makes it reasonable aswell.
