My nut has dropped

...into the depths of my Touring's chassis.

When I was removing my shock last night, I stupidly dropped one of the 13mm nuts down into the chassis. I'm not so worried about the nut itself - i've replaced them anyway - i'm more worried about forever hearing it rattle if I don't retrieve it.

Is there any way that I can access into the bottom of this area - removing further trim etc? I've tried a magnet on a stick, but it's hard when it just sticks to the chassis...

I did that on the cab, i just drown it out with the music turned up

i've lost a few off fraggers down there ,very common schoolboy error .

It's a little late,now,but stuffing rags into the gaps would have prevented this!

One of those grabber things may help you out,lots of patience will be needed,though.

You're probably best off pouring some Waxoyl in there to stick it down, and provide rust protection.

Its probably gone for good - I bunged a load of grease in the socket when I did mine so the nut wouldnt fall out

most touring owners have the rear inner arch delete and will find the nut on the garage floor.. your one of the lucky ones if it has got stuck

touring rear shocks are a pain to change unlike the saloon versions

Similar thing happened on my cabby and now both the nut and the socket are down inside there.

Why did I not think of stuffing a rag in there?!! It seems so obvious now...

I rescued this with a magnet on a flexi stick thing. Best £5 i spent in Halfords in a long time.

magnet, if you cant fish it out just leave the magnet and itl hold it there

I have a magnet on a length of rope on my boat,very useful when I drop tools into the river....
