I've seen cars put out into the rain after they've come out the oven. Not ideal but doesn't really cause any damage.

Is the paint being baked on in an oven?
If yes then water/rain wont effect it at all.

Yeah that should be fine.
I'm assuming you'll be heating your booth?

Depends what gas, I'm sure butane gives out silicones.
Think propane is the one to use.

Naa just buffing it flat. Its costing like 300 quid if that. Its suppppper low budget, im not expecting a great job. anything is better than how it currently is. And yes I think il do the engine and intake the same colour. Im also colour matching the centre of the wheels.
Good point topless. Better just stick with halogens

Verde have you not thought about doing all the prep and then just paying a pro to spray it, then taking it back home to re build, for what it will cost you anyway to build and heat the booth and buying all materials, the actual "spraying" doesn't take too long it's all the prep and overall work that builds up costs, if you did it all it might not cost much more to pay for the spraying and get a much nicer job, much better in the long run

Im not building a pro fucking booth haha. Im building a framework covering it in sheet plastic and heating it. Itl cost 20-30 quid maximum. And I considered that iwith the white car...rawing it back to bare and laquering it...maybe burning it so theres nice metal rainbows etc.... But im sure itl look reasonable. The cars all stripped and almost ready. Pics. In my build thread later

Cars in primer or filler should never be left in the rain, a car painted and baked can put out in the rain after a full cool down period circa 2 hours, personally when ive painted a car I demask as soon as it clicks of bake and leave it 24 hours before I flat/polish or even stick it in the rain, if im piano coating it I tend to leave it 3 days before flat/polish or stick it outside. Paint takes time to breath after force drying (baking) generally if im doing somthing special ill 1500 it 24 h after , apply 2 20% thinned laqure coats @ 50% heat bake (30 degrees) then 5 days later 2000 and 3000 soap flat and 4 stage polish.
I personally find 30c temp is a perfect temp and leave your paints in the room to get to room temp, and leave the painted car over nite at room temp it wont tighten up and go orange peely like force drying at 60c, give it a good wet flat with 1500 and get some trizact pads give it a real good trizact wet flat, and use 3m green top then yellow top, miles better than ferecla compound.

That sounds very like how my shell is being painted. Do you leave the car standing for a week or so after primer to let it all sink a little (if it sinks at all) before a final rub down?Nato_e30 wrote:Cars in primer or filler should never be left in the rain, a car painted and baked can put out in the rain after a full cool down period circa 2 hours, personally when ive painted a car I demask as soon as it clicks of bake and leave it 24 hours before I flat/polish or even stick it in the rain, if im piano coating it I tend to leave it 3 days before flat/polish or stick it outside. My painter leaves it 3 weeks or so in primer to really settle, then having another look at it, but with regards to the above, I don't know much about painting but, is it good practice to have to be taking wet n dry to run down freshly painted paint ? Thought the idea was to get a flawless finish with the paint skill?

Every little helps pal I do classic resorations and the final primer coat (we used to 3 coat prime each time and dothis 4 times, prime leave a week 400 flat, prime leave a week 500 flat, prime leave a week 500 flat, prime leave a week 1000 wet flat) then paint. Longer you leave between what you do the better, although when youve laqured it flat it (1500 wet) panel wipe the residue off and leave it afew days then trizact and polish it this leaves it enough time to breath if you polish right away you may have it healing back up and itl show buffing/ flatting marks and when the paint tightens up can go orange peely,

I think my guy will be leaving mine for up to 2 weeks before he flats it and primes it again. He uses lead though rather than filler where ever there was a lot needed (welded area's especially).
