Winter tyres are now on the touring!!!

Question is - what sort of pressure should I run them at???
I've put them all up to 30psi at the mo, but suspect that's a bit high???

I would suggest 27psi,what's with the minivan?

Ha ha, the minivan is a 'long term project' - i.e. it's been in that state on my drive for about 7 years!!!!!!
Got most of the bits to rebuild it now though - fully rebuilt front subframe with metro turbo brakes is ready to go on, then it can have a few scabs sorted, so it will happen one day!!!

I'll drop them a bit and see how I go!!
Got the electric pump in the boot if I get stuck anywhere and need to drop some air out (or back in!).

Only been up the road on them, but they're more grippy than the budget rears I had on last week!!!
Will report back if I get a chance to drive it in the snow!!!!!!

Got the same wheels and trims :P

I tip toe around with 30psi on all corners and they did well last year.

To me,this is just one of the joy's of E30zone,all sorts of interesting projects turn up,tucked away in the corner of some-one's photo of something entirely different.

Cannot see you seeing much difference between 27/30psi,TBO.

What size are you running relative to OE?

My understanding is that they work better at a slightly higher pressure than normal.

BMW don't list this size for a touring, but do for saloons and cabs.
Pressures are 30 - 37 PSI front and 32 - 41 rear, depending on load.
Whatever tyres are fitted, they would work better if the suspension wasn't so far out of spec.

A bit late, I know, but I ran them at 30psi all round - superb!!!!!!!

Can highly recommend a set of winter tyres to anyone!!!

Surprising amount of grip in the cold/damp conditions - more than with fatter summer tyres!!!
And awesome in the snow!!!! No problems on medium slopes/hills and high cambered parking spaces, (I normally cant get out onto my road!!!).

Cars off the road left right and centre on Farthing Downs during a snow storm and I just drove straight through the middle!!!

I like the panic on peoples faces when they see/hear and E30 bombing through the snow!!!!!!!!!

Was a bit cold and dark for pics but....

I used to get similar pleasure, locally a certain road floods badly in the rain, many people would get stuck/stranded etc in it. I used to take great pleasure in driving right on through it in my old wreck of an R5,they didn't know it was fitted with a snorkel and had sealed electrics :D Just the look on their faces while stood next to their broken down 'new car' was priceless as I ambled through in my 'old car'....loved it!
