There's nothing terminal I don't think.

New steering wheel or grease this one up?

And carpet was dry when I got it so wouldn't have known.

Harsh but ultimately the best answer.

As I have stressed all along, this is NOT a suitable car for somebody with limited mechanical ability .
With the Schnitzer bits it should frag to reasonable money and even though twin Webers on a street car are crap, they are sought after and will sell for good money to an 02 freak.

Any money spent on this car will not add to its value in bits which is more than its value as a car.

The first thing that MUST be done is an 'autopsy' by somebody knowledgeable. If the shell is ropey ,its time to call it quits
A wet carpet is NEVER just a blocked 'elephants trunk' :(

I'm in complete agreement I've not spent much on it if it's saleable I'll save it if it's got a list of work that's economical it'll be broken up. But if it's going to leave me a little upside down I'm happy to put SOME money to it just not a lot.

it to be a cheap fix if that's all it is.

Boyd was in the area today and came out and adjusted the fanbelt and gave it a tinker and its much better took it for a good clean and Im quite happy. taking the wheel off and giving it a good clean and some lubricant has taken the horrible squeel away too.

Wheels and carbs balanced bit of gutter trim and new roundels and I think Ill have a goodun!

Fooked rear beam bushes, bent trailing arms or wikkid-sick lowering springs, innit.

If you're going to keep the car, rip out the donk and stick an M42 in there. Selling the Webbers will pay for it, and you'll get better power, better fuel economy and an easier car to maintain.

Buggery. ...

Called yesterday by Webber guy. Easy fix 80 + vat.

Called to say it's much much better but....fixing the carburetor has revealed its drawing air between 3 and 4 inlet or cylinder £300 all in lol

Christmas overdraft extension lol

What does that mean - new head gasket required, or just inlet manifold gasket?

£300 sounds rather steep just to change that, but those are garage rates, I suppose.

Does seem a tad expensive. I'd be asking for a work breakdown and parts prices on that quote.

Woohoo

Road tested this morning they said it's sorted and lubricated the bottom end to take the squeeking away. Replacement tyres coming today should be all sorted by Saturday.
