About a year ago I changed my front shocks and top mounts, I bought SKF top mounts which seem fine but the hole for the strut nut was bigger than in the originals so I had to use some circles of rubber round the original plugs for them to sit tightly in the holes. They’ve been fine till now.
The other day I had to do a bit of an emergency stop”¦. Wheels locked, lots of screeching and tyre smoke”¦ Now I have noticed that the plugs in both top mounts are missing.
So, is it anything to worry about? I suppose that it was just the flex in the top mounts which has let the plugs get fired out the top under max compression.
And what about replacement plugs? Can’t see the point in buying another set of BMW originals if I’m going to lose them again”¦.

Are you sure they were even present before you did the stop?
