In frustration, started to smack these in after breaking my g clamp pretty quickly - didn't realise the metal is quite soft!

Will they still be ok? Does that alloy tube need to fit somewhere? I could file it down I guess...do I need to get another? Not a great pic - right one is (partly) in the subframe, the left is one I haven't butchered yet.

IMHO il suggest you change it as the stud won't go in , because the hole has gone smaller. But you could file open the hole and it should be fine. I guess at the end of the day it's down to you, but if it was me I'll change it.

If the bushes you are using are anything less than Lemforder now is the ideal time to change to the proper bushes

They are lemforder - the new ones. The old ones are god knows what but have probably been in there since 1989. I'll hopefully find out when I get the frame out. Too damn cold and dark need a garage!

My thoughts exactly when I read that.

If you're struggling with getting them in, and you have the beam out, then it can be easier to just take them to a garage and ask if they can press them in. Takes 2 minutes, and if they're friendly guys, they probably won't want much more than a 5er or some beers. That's if you can get to a garage though.

If your really stuck and cannot go to a garage get some 12mm studbar and make 2 large washers/nuts etc, and grease the new bushes up and then pull them in using two 19mm spanners.

oh if i remember correct you need a bit of pipe to pull through the last bit of bush.

Did my ones that way

Dont use grease! They will never be solid if you do. Watered down washing up liquid is what you want as it will dry out
