Recaro Seats

Looking into the possibility of Recaro seats in my cabby.

So which ones fit?

In theory, any will. Depends how good you are with a welder. Most will need custom mounts making up. Whether you have to utilise the E30 runners is what they come with as standard. The only ones that'll be a direct bolt in AFAIK are the recaros that came in E30's, like the 318is and 325 sports etc, which are nice enough.

However, E30 seats are generally on the slim side, so it's better to get a set that are slim. I think the best looking ones you can pick up were out of the Rover 800's.

I've got a set of Astra GTE ones sat in my room waiting to go in. Got to make up some custom mounts though, but that'll be easy. Just got to make a rectangle with some square tubing and drill some holes.

I thought that E30 Sport seats and E30 Recaro seats were 2 different types of seat?

I have never used a welder...would a body shop put something together?

yes there is e30 BMW sport seats(recaro look alikes) and then proper e30 recaro seats both of which will bolt straight in, ive got a set of proper e30 recaros in my cab.
of course you could get recaro's from other BMW's, fords etc but these would have to be welded in using custom brackets of some sort.

Anyone know what is similar, I like the E21 Recaro's but can't find any for sale.

Yes but you can adjust them enough without having to worry

E30 Recaro seats start at around the £150-£200 mark for heavily worn out seats now. Most seem to be 4 door seats as well for some reason.

same bottom as a recaro sr which is what came in e30 m3
so you can use a standard recaro slide mount fitted with speedware motorsport mounts to get you nice and low down
