right this is really starting to get on my tits now,

i thought i'd got it sorted the other day after fixing a break in the wire.

but now it's gone again :x i've checked the wiring, no faults there as far as i can see,

i'e read on here a while ago about the "resettable fuse" which some of us often call the "breaker switch". now what i'd like ti know is would/could this be the cause of the fault??

strange thing is there must be power getting to the window switches as they light up when you open the door's or put the headlights on yet when you press then to lower or raie the windows, nothing.

so, could this resettable fuse be at fault or is there something else going wrong??

help me out if you can please folk as it's starting to do my head in now.

Hey sounds stuiped but i had the same problem, have you checked the wires on your starter motor? as you start your engine if kills power to everything else it could not be recirculating :/
Best way to check find a stright bit of road turn the car off and a few seconds then bump it hope this helps.

I'm breaking a 325i and both electric windows are fully working, if you need any parts.

Also I know this may sound obvious, but are you sure the breaker switch is definitely fully depressed?!

the "breaker switch" seems to be fully down i'll check in the morning.

Lights in the switches won't light if the breaker is up.
".....the window switches as they light up when you......put the headlights on " Are you sure of this? Switches should light when you open a front door or turn the ignition on. No connection at all with the headlamp circuits.
What happens when you operate one of the window switches? Do the lights in them dim or go out? Any response from the window motor at all?

One answer missing.

Do they light with the doors shut and the ignition on?

If the switch lights dim, then power is being drawn by the motors.
I suggest you take off one of the door cards, unplug the motor, connect power directly to the motor from a battery to check that the window will power up and down, and then connect a 12 volt 5W bulb to the motor plug's socket and see what the bulb does when you work the switch.
Any chance that you have dealer fitted rather than factory fitted electric windows?
