I'm going to look at an M20b25 tomorrow with a view to buying it. I've seen a movie clip of it running and it sounds good but it's since been removed from the car. What checks can I do apart from looking at the plugs/oil?

Apart from checking the condition of all the gaskets I'd be wanting to whip off the rocker cover to check the head for wear and general cleanliness. If it's all black and gummed up it's a good sign it's not well looked after will regular oil changes, so what else might have been neglected.

From what I've seen it looks to have been looked after. The coolant expansion tank is new, as is the washer fluid tank. Not crucial I know but it gives an indication of a cared for car.

Always is difficult to get these clean of the oil sludge that collects in it when a B25 head cracks under the cam bearings!

Was raising my suspicions as well. Why would you suddenly sell after forking for new bottles, they aren't exaclty cheap.

Ok, I say new, I mean it isn't brown yet.
