Was just browsing the Wiki and saw how pathetic the Alpina section was so I'm going to slowly add to it.

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Alpina

Now my first question is regarding the C2 2.5, C1 2.5 & C2.5. I've done some searching around and this is my conclusion;

C2 2.5 = A 323i converted to 2.5 using the ETA block
C1 2.5/C2.5 = A 325i just just been cammed up, chipped and an exhaust.

Is this correct?

Also is there a good site that actually tells you all the engine work carried out by Alpina on the engines? All I can seem to find is performance and capacity information.

Most of the info is here Kedge; I've been meaning to copy it across for ages:

That's all just copied straight from the Alpina website mate. Also adds to the confusion over the C2 2.5, C1 2.5 & C2.5. Doesn't even mentioned the 2.5l based on the 323i, only 325i based versions. :mad:

not 100% Dave but I'm sure the 323i was the C1 2.5 and the C2 2.5 was just a cammed up 325i donk

According to the Alpina archives the C2 2.5 ('84 so before the 325i was released) was available before the C1 2.5 though. The thing that is confusing me is that a lot of what I have read only mentions 2 323i based Alpinas yet there is definately 3, C1 2.3, B6 2.8 and whatever the 2.5 version ended up being called, sure Felixs old one was a C2 2.5 based on a 323i? :mad: :?

C2 2.5 was the weird hybrid with 525e block, 323i crank and 2550cc with LE Jetronic.

Cheers Andy, I've read that the C2.5s often have the C2 2.5 badges which adds to the confusion. The other thing the was messing with my head was looking on Alpina's archive and they list so many models that have the same name with slightly different cc's and years.

Indeed. The original 525e/323i hybrid was the stop gap until the 325i came along. Can't be many left!
