I bought an engine in may as a spare just found out the crank bearing has failed ! It's been 6 months since purchase , what can I do ? How much is the cost of grinding crank ? The price of oversized bearings ? I'm gutted ! So fooked off right now !

Common issue on s50 engines, there all pretty old by now even if you buy a running donor car, its best to check the condition of bearings and replace as necesarry then fit ARP rod bolts before this occurs. Probrably one of the biggest causes of engine failure on an s50,no matter how great it runs the potential for this to happen is always there unless you address it before hand!

Can't your mechanic you mention in your other post in pub section sort this for you?? He must know of local people in the trade that can deal with it.

Crank regrind isn't too difficult if the engineering place ha the proper machine.
I had my M30 done not long ago, cost me £80.

New bearings can be bought from bmw but i would get the crank professionally checked first.

I paid £234 for a set of rod bearings (with small discount) from the main dealer.

I am sure I have been through this before but......S50's are not the easiest engines to rebuild, the parts and labour normally costs more than a good s/h engine. When you buy another engine take someone who knows what they on about with you, and DO NOT pay for an engine you cant see/hear running!!
